Chapter 792

Ariel stayed calm, her eyes fixed on the sports car.
She was almost certain now that they were being intercepted.
“This is bad,” her local colleague said, frowning. “I recognize the guy standing in front. He’s a well–known street boss around here, backed by an Isbell family.”
Ariel frowned. Their numbers were significant, and their intentions were unclear.
And would someone driving such an expensive car do this for money? Probably not.
“We’re armed, right?” Ariel checked the car doors. They were all locked.
Her gut told her these people might be even more dangerous than the gunfire behind them.
“We do have guns, but if we go head–to–head with them, I don’t think…”
Ariel understood immediately that escaping was not going to be easy.
Just then, someone got out of the sports car.
He was a man in his 30s, with the typical features of a Veylander, yet still fairly handsome. His attire was strikingly luxurious, setting him apart from everyone else.

Ariel looked ever in confusion. “The Nielsen family?”
She knew nothing about the foreign scene.
“It’s a mafia family in Isbell. They have a wide reach and a brutal way of operating.”
Her colleague broke into a cold sweat. “What is a Nielsen doing here?”
Things were clearly about to get a lot messier.
Ariel gripped her phone tighter, her anxiety rising. She wanted to get out of this signal–less area and contact Jayson, but the situation right now…
“Please wait, Ms. Walker. We’ll try to negotiate first,” her colleague said.
Ariel nodded. “Be careful.”
Ariel didn’t know exactly what they were talking about. All she could see was that the man from the Nielsen family kept a dark, grim expression.
That wasn’t a good sign.
Just as she was running through her options, she noticed a man with a gun moving toward her car.
Ariel looked down. Her hand below was still trying to reach the outside world.

Just then, the man stopped outside her window. Grinning maliciously, he tapped on the glass. His eyes locked on her as he gestured for her to get out.
Ariel’s nerves tensed.
Everything today had already been chaotic, but these people made her realize that the danger was ten times greater.
She didn’t move.
The man outside began losing patience. He cursed and threatened her to get out.
Ariel’s expression was tense, but she showed no sign of panic. Just as she was wondering what to do, group of people appeared not far away.
Several cars pulled up, drawing the man outside toward them.
Ariel saw the group of people walking straight toward the man in the sports car.

She couldn’t tell what they were discussing, but the man suddenly turned toward her car, his expression tinged with curiosity.
After what felt like an eternity, her local colleague returned to the car, visibly relieved, like someone who had narrowly escaped.
“Those people are here to get us out! It’s settled! We can leave safely! Ms. Walker, if anything had happened to you here, even our president couldn’t explain it to your government!”
He knew Ariel’s status made any mishap completely unacceptable.
Ariel, however, kept her eyes on the arriving group. “Who are they?”
Her colleague shook his head. “Regular army, but I’m not sure why the Nielsen man agreed to let us go. Seems like some deal was made.”
Ariel felt a nagging unease.
But she wasn’t alone. Several cars carried her colleagues, and the decision wasn’t hers to make.
Right now, the priority was getting out of the danger zone.
She had to find a way to reach Jayson. Without that, she couldn’t be at ease. There was no time to dwell on anything else.
