“Give me the address.” Samson started the car. His tone was sharp. He had a gut feeling that Cecilia was a ticking time bomb in her current state.
“Mind your own business. If you hadn’t failed with Ariel, I wouldn’t be in such a mess.” Cecilia
sneered.
“ I’m flying to Fiorvell tomorrow for my exhibition, and I can’t even finish the last painting. I sent Jayson an invitation, and he completely ignored me! Can you believe it? How could there be such a blind man?”
Samson wasn’t about to entertain her drunken rant.
Cecilia had been edgy lately–typical artist quirks.
He pulled up the tracking application he had previously placed on Cecilia’s phone to check her location. She was at a private club, about two and a half hours away. It was quite far.
“Clear out your friends,” he said coolly. “I’ll come get you in a bit.”
Ariel ran into Elsie at the corner while heading upstairs.
Elsie had clearly been standing there for a while. She had probably overheard Ariel’s earlier exchange with Samson.
Seeing Ariel approach, she quickly wiped her eyes. “You’re finally here. I’ve got so many questions for you. Even if you’re incredible, you can’t take that long off.”
Ariel noticed her red–rimmed eyes.
Being someone who had been through emotional turbulence herself, she immediately guessed why.
Last time with the data incident, Elsie would have been first in line to take the blame if anything
went wrong.
Ariel climbed two steps. Pretending not to notice Elsie’s sadness, she pulled a few chocolates from her pocket and placed them in Elsie’s hand. “Come with me to the test flight site. Let’s see just how grand your future career plans can be.”
After saying that, Ariel walked ahead.
Elsie’s eyelashes still had traces of tears. She stared at the chocolates in her palm. Suddenly, she understood what Ariel meant.

She caught up in a few quick steps. Fidgeting with the chocolates, she muttered, “I don’t like milk hazelnut. It’s too sweet. I’m on a diet. I’m already 110 pounds.”
Ariel shot her a glance and reached for them. “Give them back.”
Elsie quickly stuffed them into her pocket, guarding them fiercely. “No way. I’m not going to return something my boss gave me. I’m not stupid.”
With that, she silently followed Ariel.
She had figured it out. Whether Samson was behind recent events or not, he clearly wasn’t worth her
affection.
If it were really him, it proved that he hadn’t taken her seriously at all. He had used her, even expecting her to take the blame.
She would be upset, sure, but she wouldn’t cling blindly. At least the person she liked had to be someone truly worth loving.
Seeing Elsie’s mood lift, Ariel let out a silent smile.
At the test flight site, the team leader approached. “We have a new pilot today, Wade Garner. You’ll work on the test flight with him.”
Ariel nodded.
The military base had plenty of skilled personnel, especially elite pilots. They were basically national
treasures.
She glanced across. The man wore a sleek flight suit, looking tall and commanding from the back.
Just as she was about to approach, her phone rang. It was Jayson.
Ariel handed her notebook to Elsie. “Go coordinate with Wade.”
Elsie had accepted Ariel’s kindness, so she knew better than to argue now. She grunted and took the notebook over.
Ariel turned to answer the call. Updates are released by
Jayson’s voice came through. “Are you at the base again? How’s your body holding up?”
He had gone to take care of a few things, and Ariel had kept herself busy.
“Why did you call?” she asked.
“I’ll come get you shortly. It’s urgent.”

Ariel didn’t like hearing that word. When Jayson called something urgent, it always meant serious. business.
She checked the time. “Come in half an hour.”
After ending the call, she looked at Elsie, who had likely finished coordinating with Wade.
He had removed his helmet and was walking past her. His features were sharp, with hints of foreign heritage. He was undeniably good–looking.
When Wade caught sight of Ariel, he gave a subtle nod without breaking stride.
Ariel nodded back. She felt that he looked familiar, though she couldn’t place where she had seen him before.
