Elsie focused on the ring on Ariel’s hand and said, “I remember years ago, maybe four years back, I went to an auction in Fiorvell with my dad. This ring was the final highlight of the auction.”
Ariel immediately glanced at Jayson sitting beside her. He met her gaze calmly.
Elsie continued, “I loved it at the time, so I remembered many people wanted it. I think the final price was… 110 million dollars.”
Ariel almost choked. She looked down at the ring on her hand, then back at Jayson, stunned.
How much was it?
“This ring has quite a history,” Elsie went on. “It’s a one–of–a–kind piece by a top Fleubian jeweler from a century ago. It was insanely expensive. At the auction, they said it had ended up in a museum.
“The jeweler had designed it in the name of love. It’s incredibly meaningful, and a few versions of the story circulated widely back then. It was only a few years ago that it was brought out again, renamed ‘Devotion‘ for auction, and fetched that astronomical price.
Elsie remembered it clearly.
Her family was wealthy, and she traveled all over with her father. Back then, she was just a teenager, at the age when jewelry fascinated her, but the price was far beyond her reach.
After all, very few people would consider spending 110 million dollars on a single diamond ring.
“Mr. Larkin, you’re so good to your wife,” Alicia said, eyes full of admiration.
Ariel felt her hand growing warm. She looked at Jayson in disbelief. “Really?”
Jayson gave her a quick glance. “Yeah.”
He had flown out specifically for that auction a week before they had gone to the city hall to register their marriage.
Ariel was momentarily speechless because Jayson had never mentioned any of this.

Ariel felt the ring burning in her hand. She decided to set it down and changed the topic. “So have we consolidated our initial feedback?”
She steered the conversation back to work.

Janice leaned in, lowering her voice. “Dang. He was that generous back then?”
Was this really the attitude of a man being pressured into marriage? He had quietly gone off and spent a fortune to give her an extravagant ring.
Even for their social class, the cost of that ring was shocking.

Ariel rubbed the diamond under the table, her mind spinning.
Chad tugged Janice back into her seat. Once she settled, he murmured, “I think the two of them have smoothed things over a bit.”
Janice hissed but stayed silent. After all, Jayson had risked his life for Ariel, and as her friend, there was no way she could hold it against him.
After all the issues were settled, it was already late. Wade and Alicia stood up.
Ariel noticed them moving and rose as well. She said calmly, “It’s Jan’s birthday today. How should we celebrate?”
Wade and Alicia caught the question clearly. They glanced over.
Janice immediately understood what Ariel was trying to do. She was subtly testing Wade for her.
Chad also looked on. “Jan, what do you want to do?”
Janice instinctively glanced at Wade. She parted her lips but hesitated. Her fiance hadn’t made a move yet, so she felt a little down.
Wade frowned, thinking.
Alicia quickly picked up on it and gently nudged his arm. “Wade, you should celebrate Jan’s birthday. I’ll be fine.”
