Ariel wasn’t interested in listening to what Jayson and Shane had to say. She just wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible so she could go back and rest.
Shane got straight to the point. “I’ve already worked in Isbell for several years. My work there is pretty much done, so I’m hoping to transfer back to Croinia.
“I’m not asking for a position at Bluum Corp, of course. Instead, I was thinking I could be transferred to our branch in Humberston. That’s not too much to ask, right?”
Humberston and Eldoria were located far apart. Shane was hoping to get transferred back to Croinia first.
Jayson smiled. “I don’t think it’s possible to transfer you to our Humberston branch at the moment, Shane.
These transfers require planning and careful consideration.
“Besides, most of the key positions in our company are already filled by senior, experienced employees. None of
them would welcome a new boss suddenly being placed over them.”

Jayson sat down with ease. “I thought you liked Isbell, Shane. You’re putting me in a tough spot by making this
request now.”
Shane’s smile faltered slightly.
Jayson was clearly mocking him with that remark. He had never wanted Shane to return in the first place.
Family ties meant nothing to Jayson. He had exiled Shane to a foreign country for years, all because of a woman.

He turned to Ariel. “You two should use those crabs to make some dishes later, Ari. I’ll get going now.”
Ariel nodded. “Drive safe.”
Jayson didn’t get up. He had no intention of seeing Shane out.
Shane didn’t seem to mind. He turned and walked to the door.
But the moment it shut behind him, his expression turned cold.
It was clear Jayson intended to keep things exactly as they were, giving Shane no chance to fight back.

Ariel had been instructed to pause all work for the time being and cooperate with questioning.

In the spacious conference room sat Gary, Maurice, Elsie, and other members of Ariel’s team.
Elsie’s expression hardened the instant she saw Ariel. She strode up to her and asked loudly, in front of
everyone’s watchful eyes, “Do you think I caused this mishap just so I could finally beat you?”
Everyone was looking at Elsie, even Ariel.
Elsie looked agitated. “I’d never do something so underhanded! It’s fine if you don’t believe me, but I plan to
beat you with my skills and abilities. If you’re kicked out of here, who will I compete with?”
Elsie hoped Ariel wouldn’t suspect her of being behind the incident, simply because of her dislike for her.
Ariel could tell Elsie wasn’t lying. She was an open book with no hidden malice or ulterior motives.
“I know,” Ariel replied softly.
Elsie trailed after her. “You do? You’re not secretly cursing me out, right?”
Ariel chose to ignore Elsie’s incessant ramblings.
The others, however, could clearly see that Ariel and Elsie didn’t have the warmest relationship as colleagues.

“The worker suffered severe burns and was rushed to the hospital. However, the injuries were too serious. The
worker didn’t make it.”
