Ariel couldn’t help but feel Jayson’s decision was a bit rash. 1
Her ring had been a sky–high auction piece, yet his own had been hurriedly made?
Somehow, she suddenly wanted to know what kind of state Jayson had been in back then. He had put so much thought into everything behind the scenes.
Jayson wasn’t the type to display his affection openly. When he cared for someone, he did it without counting costs or expecting anything in return.
The deeper she thought about it, the more it seemed that he had carefully orchestrated everything between
them.
She even wondered if he hadn’t done all those things quietly behind her back, would they have had such a deep connection at all?
“You sure know how to bottle things up.” Ariel stepped closer and looked up at his precise features with an intent gaze.
Caught in her stare, Jayson held his gaze without flinching for a moment. “Do you want me to take credit? Is it too late now?”
Ariel smiled faintly, but she didn’t respond. She stepped forward again and gently but firmly wrapped her arms around his waist, catching him completely off guard.
Eyes closed, she rested against his chest.
Memories raced through her mind. Whether they were good or bad didn’t seem important at this moment.
“Jayson, get better soon. When you’re fully healed, let’s go see the baby together.”
It would be a good start and a new beginning.
Ariel had spent a long time thinking things through.
There was no need to magnify the small issues anymore. Life was about the present and the future.
She couldn’t deny that over this time, Jayson had chipped away at her defenses again and again.
All along, she had thought she no longer loved him, but the protective layer she had built up had only hidden her feelings.
It wasn’t that she didn’t care. She just couldn’t face it back then and had forced herself to look ahead.
But Jayson had always been a step ahead, showing her that he was walking the path with her, no matter what.
Jayson felt the warmth of Ariel’s body. Her arms around his waist made him stiffen against his will.
After a long moment, he lowered his gaze to her. “Ariel?”
“You know me. I’m not good at making big decisions or changes,” she said softly. “I don’t usually do this.

Jayson felt his chest quiver. The sensation grew stronger, stirring his emotions and making his heart race with

He wrapped his arms around her waist and leaned down slightly to pull her tightly against him. His voice was a low, husky whisper as he said, “I’d be glad.”
They had loved each other before, but over all those years, it seemed they had never truly connected heart to
heart.
He knew this moment was precious.
Even if Ariel wasn’t entirely certain yet, it didn’t matter.
Her stubbornness and prickly nature came from her childhood, but that was fine. Patience was the one thing he never lacked.
No matter what, he believed they were meant for each other.
Ariel could feel the intensity of Jayson’s emotions. He seemed about to crush her body into his. She could only pat his back. “Ease up a bit. I need a breather.”
“Alright,” Jayson said, finally releasing her.
She drew a breath, only for him to pull her back against him, his chin pressing against her neck.
“Alright, that was a breather,” he murmured. 1
Ariel was rendered speechless. “Jayson, that’s not funny. Let go. My phone’s ringing.”
Instead of letting go, he settled onto the barstool. He hooked one arm around her to pull her between his legs, while the other hand reached up to pinch her cheek and tug gently at her hair. “Go ahead, take the call.”
