When Noreen returned, it was already past dinnertime.

The caregiver told her that Seth hadn’t eaten anything all day.

Anxious, she had rushed back without even eating her own dinner.

The moment she walked into the hospital room, Noreen saw Seth lying in bed.

Though his eyes were closed, his expression was ice-cold.

She couldn’t tell if he was actually asleep or just faking it.

Frustrated, Noreen frowned and asked coldly, “What is wrong with you? Why aren’t you eating?”

The man in the bed didn’t move an inch.

Noreen rubbed her temples, completely at a loss as to why he was throwing a tantrum this time.

Recovering from physical trauma required proper nutrition. If he refused to eat, how was he supposed to heal?

“Say something. I know you’re not asleep,” Noreen scolded him in a frustrated, low voice.

The man finally opened his eyes, casting a dark, gloomy gaze.

His voice sounded as if it had been dunked in a bucket of ice. “You don’t need to worry about me.”

Noreen was exasperated. “Do you think I want to?”

“If you hadn’t gotten hurt because of me, I wouldn’t even be here!”

The atmosphere in the room instantly grew tense and frigid.

Noreen realized she had been a bit too harsh.

After all, Seth was a patient.

What if the stress was too much for him…

Just as she was trying to figure out how to break the awkward silence, her stomach embarrassingly growled.

The previously dead-silent man suddenly spoke up. “I’m hungry. I want some chicken noodle soup.”

Noreen was utterly speechless.

She was still mad at him…

Whatever, eating came first.

Noreen pulled out her phone and familiarly opened the delivery app to order from their usual soup place.

It was only after she placed the order that she remembered—this was her favorite.

In the past, Seth wasn’t really a fan of noodles.

She shot him a suspicious look.

The man lowered his gaze again, masking his emotions. His expression was completely blank.

The awkward tension lingered until the delivery arrived.

Noreen had ordered two portions; naturally, one was for Seth.

She opened the lid, grabbed a napkin with practiced ease, and used her spoon to pick out the minced cilantro.

It was still one of his bad habits. He liked the flavor of cilantro, but hated the texture of the actual leaves.

The man’s previously cold and rigid expression softened a bit when he saw what she was doing.

He picked up his own spoon and said, “I can do it myself. You eat first. Weren’t you starving?”

Only then did Noreen realize what she was doing…

It was probably a bad habit ingrained in her from how demanding he used to be!

Annoyed with herself, she dug into her own soup, refusing to look at him again.

After the doctor left, Noreen sent Sophia Cole a voice message, asking her to book a return flight for Friday.

Her original plan had been to head back to Rivercrest City as soon as the lawsuit was over.

She hadn’t expected the accident with Brianna crashing into her.

To take care of Seth, she had pushed her flight back by two days. Doing the math, that landed exactly on Friday.
