Chapter 954
“Oh, right, an assistant did come by. But I’ve been swamped with meetings today, so
I didn’t really pay attention. Let me check.”
Through the receiver, she heard a man’s muffled warning in the background.
*You’d better not move!*
*Seth Harcourt! I can’t believe this day has finally come!*
*Do you have any idea how long I’ve waited for this?*
Noreen’s hand clenched into a tight fist against her desk.
On the other end, Quinn seemed to cover the mouthpiece, deadening the background noise for a few seconds.
Then, his voice came back on the line.
He said, “Ms. Gilmore, let me confirm the situation and get back to you.”
Holding back her rising fury, Noreen said, “I’d appreciate that, Mr. Lynch.”
The moment she hung up, she ordered Sophia to get a car ready. She was heading straight to The Cloudcrest Club.
During the call, she had faintly caught the name ‘Cloudcrest’ in the background chatter, leading her to deduce Quinn’s exact location.
Sophia was completely bewildered.
It was just a commitment letter. Why did the boss need to go fetch it herself?
In the car.
Noreen turned to Sophia. “From now on, assign any work related to Lynch Properties to someone else. Do not give it to Assistant Harcourt.”
Even though she didn’t understand, Sophia nodded in agreement.
Normally, running errands like this was exactly what assistants were hired for.
And since Seth was the newest hire, assigning the task to him made perfect sense. The massive problem was that Quinn and Seth had bad blood between them.
That was exactly why Noreen had called Quinn the moment she found out Seth had gone to their offices.
While in the car, she also dialed Seth’s number.
But it rang out without an answer.
Her anxiety mounting, Noreen urged the driver to go faster, pushing him to speed through the traffic.
At The Cloudcrest Club.
After finishing his call with Noreen, Quinn pocketed his phone and stepped back into the private room.
His face was dark, his tone dripping with malice and mockery. “I never thought the great Mr. Harcourt would resort to living off a woman Playing assistant to alady… f word gets out, people will laugh themselves to death.”
Even with several men pinning him to a chair, Seth’s oppressive aura didn’t diminish in the slightest.
He stared up at Quinn with a chilling, arrogant gaze, looking at the man like he was absolute garbage.
That look only fueled Quinn’s irritation. He narrowed his eyes and sneered, “What gives you the right to act so tough with me now? You’re nothing but a pathetic little assistant.”
Standing nearby, Riley Lynch lacked
his uncle’s restraint. He was
practically vibrating with vicious eagerness. “Don’t waste your breath, on him Uncle! I’ve waited twelve years for this chance, and it’s finally here!”
“Today, I’m getting payback for my leg!”
SV
With a sinister glare, he slapped his own leg and snarled at Seth, “Remember this leg? You’re the one who shattered it! You crippled me, and today, an eye for an eye! I’m
going to make you feet exactly what it’s like to be a cripple!” Content”
With that, he swung the baseball bat in his hands and commanded the thugs. “Hold
him down! Make sure he can’t move!”
Four massive enforcers shoved Seth violently down onto the sofa.
They dragged his leg up and pinned it across the glass coffee table, giving Riley a clear shot to shatter his bones.
Yet even in the face of such brutal danger, Seth’s expression remained entirely composed.
He looked directly at Quinn, his voice ice-cold. “Are you absolutely certain you can handle the consequences of this?”
Quinn flinched, momentarily paralyzed by the sheer, terrifying intensity in Seth’s eyes.
Riley started panicking. “Uncle, he’s just bluffing! Don’t let him get in your head!”
“He’s been reduced to playing fetch for a woman! That just proves Wade Harcourt cut ties with him years ago!”
Quinn still hesitated. “But he is Wade’s only son…”
Even though Wade had kept a low profile for years and was practically a ghost in the underworld these days…
…Harcourt Group was still a formidable titan.
