Just like always, Jasmine’s hysterical meltdown earned zero reaction from Carman.
The only thing answering her screams was a suffocating silence.
That night, Jasmine slept alone in the cavernous master bedroom, tossing and turning until dawn.
She dragged herself out of bed early the next morning and stepped into the kitchen —a room she hadn’t used in months—to prepare a lavish, sprawling breakfast.
When Carman and Winnie finally emerged from their room, she rushed over with overwhelming enthusiasm, urging them to eat.
The moment Winnie saw her, she instinctively shrank back, hiding behind Carman’s legs.
Carman immediately shielded the child, shooting Jasmine a look of absolute ice. “There’s no need. Eat it yourself.”
“I woke up at the crack of dawn to make this. It’s all your favorites,” Jasmine said, her tone laced with desperate flattery.
Carman didn’t even acknowledge the effort. He simply stated, “Winnie is going to be late for school. I’m dropping her off now.”
Panic flashing in her eyes, Jasmine hastily offered, “Then let me pack it up for you! You can eat it on the way.”
She spun around and sprinted into the kitchen.
But by the time she hurried back out with the containers, the father and daughter were already gone.
Bitter resentment gnawing at her chest, she furiously dumped the entire elaborate breakfast into the trash.
At ten o’clock that morning, Jasmine had barely stepped into the office when her secretary informed her that Mr. Holt needed to see her.
She dropped her purse at her desk and walked into Carman’s office, masking her anxiety with a mask of forced calm. “You wanted to see me?”
“This is for you,” Carman said, sliding a freshly printed stack of divorce papers across the desk.
The moment Jasmine read the bold lettering at the top of the page, the blood drained from her face.
A catastrophic argument instantly erupted.
Everyone in the InnoCore offices could hear them screaming.
As fate would have it, today was the exact day Noreen and her team were scheduled to inspect InnoCore.
She certainly hadn’t planned on walking into the middle of a warzone.
Carman’s secretary looked utterly mortified. “Ms. Gilmore, would you prefer to wait
in the conference room for a moment?”
Noreen agreed.
But the moment she turned to leave, an explosive crash shattered the tension, followed by even louder screaming from the office.
Jasmine shrieked hysterically, “I know the truth! You still aren’t over Noreen! We’ve been married for years, but she’s the one you’ve always loved! That’s why you look at me like I’m garbage!”
Her accusation was punctuated by the violent sound of objects being hurled and smashed against the walls.
Then came Carman’s deafening roar. “Are you done making a fool of yourself?!” Carman was famously even-tempered. Even Jasmine had rarely seen him unleash such terrifying rage, and the sheer force of it left her momentarily paralyzed. Carman had just hurled his most prized possession against the wall-the very first major industry award he had ever won in his career.
He had cherished that trophy for years.
Now, it lay in jagged, glittering shards at Jasmine’s feet.
She stared at it, completely horrified.
“If you hadn’t slipped drugs into my drink all those years ago, I never would have touched you! I have kept my mouth shut for years to protect your dignity! stepped up, tooke responsitpitity as a husband, and gave you everything you ever demanded, both at home and at the company! But it is never enough for you!”

“You’re obsessed with competing against Noreen, but you are completely out of your league! Whether it’s intelligence, education, vision ambition, or basic human decency you fall short in every conceivable category And when you realize you can’t beat her you come home and torture me! I am so
