Old Mrs. Quigley had no patience for his useless excuses. She cut him off, “Just agree to the divorce! Stop holding my granddaughter back. She deserves someone better!”
Without waiting for Felix’s reply, she hung up the phone.
Felix remained frozen, holding the phone to his ear. A murky, unreadable emotion swirled in his dark eyes.
After a long while, he spoke to the dead line. “We are not getting a divorce.”
Once Madeline had composed her expression, she walked toward Felix’s car.
But before her hand could even touch the door handle, the car suddenly sped away.
Her face froze.
This was the first time Felix had ever forgotten her.
When Claire arrived at Willow Brook, Noreen had already been waiting for about ten minutes.
“Sorry, there was some traffic, it held me up. Aunt Rosalind, have you been waiting long?” Claire felt apologetic.
Rosalind Gilmore smiled and poured her some tea. “Not at all. We just got here a little while ago ourselves.”
Claire noticed a gift bag on the chair next to her and asked Noreen, “Didn’t I say no presents? You know I don’t celebrate my birthday.”
Noreen shook her head. “It’s not from me.”
“Then who is it from?” Claire asked, puzzled.
“My senior, Wilbur.”
Claire paused, mid-sip. “He’s in Rivercrest City?”
“He was in Winrich this morning for business and gave it to me to pass on to you. He should be back in Northcrest
Claire secretly let out a sigh of relief.
now.”
Using the motion of drinking her water, she stole several glances at the gift from Wilbur.
She wondered what it was.
While they waited for the food to arrive, Noreen handed Claire several documents to sign.
The sight of the dense text gave Claire a headache. She asked Noreen what they
were.
“Just some documents that need your signature,” Noreen said without looking up. Claire believed her.
After all, anyone in the world might sell her out, but Noreen never would.
So she flipped directly to the signature page and signed her name with a flourish.
During the meal, Noreen added, “By
the way, LAU is officially announcing you as their global brand
ambassador tomorrow Have
agent post about it on all platforms.”
Claire, savoring a spoonful of rich chicken soup, mumbled, “Has it been three years already?”
“Yes.”
“Time flies,” Claire couldn’t help but sigh.
More than three years ago, while chatting for hours on the phone with Noreen, Claire had casually mentioned that her favorite makeup brand LAU, was planning to pull out of the domestic market. After two years, it still hadn’t gained any traction due to poor marketing strategies.
She had lamented, wondering why such a great brand couldn’t succeed in their country.
So, Noreen had looked into the brand’s products and history.
Soon after, she personally led her team to the brand’s headquarters abroad to meet with the founder.
Not long after that, she acquired the domestic sales rights and began paving the way for the LAU brand.
The three-year stint as a brand ambassador was part of the marketing strategy.

This not only enhanced the brand’s value but also elevated Claire’s status in the industry.
It was a win-win.

The founder himself had praised Noreen, calling her a marketing genius, and had even granted her the rights to other brands under his group.
Claire didn’t understand the intricacies of business anyway. Whatever Noreen said, went. She trusted her unconditionally.
At one point, Noreen stepped out to the central courtyard to take a work call.
Someone was giving her a report, and Noreen listened while jotting down important information.
The call went on for quite some time.
Just as it was about to end, a familiar voice came from behind a bamboo wall.
Jude said, “Seth, did you really come all the way out here just to take a nap?”
