Chapter 815

Her comeback left Felix speechless, but the anger inside him still seethed.

His jaw tightened and then tightened again before he spoke, his tone more of a warning than a reminder. “Stop dragging Madeline into our problems. She’s her own person, and this is between us. What you’re doing will have a negative impact on her. You’re a celebrity too, you know exactly how damaging this can be!”

Right.

Madeline was a celebrity.

And Claire was a celebrity.

But Felix had never once considered that she could be negatively affected too.

Or rather, he always took Madeline’s side, always considered things from her perspective.

Claire’s gaze dropped to the floor, her eyes fixed on the mangled good luck charm as a silent laugh escaped her.

Madeline, who had recovered by now, struggled out of bed to pick up the charm from the floor.

Only then did Felix seem to notice it.

He frowned and said to Madeline, “It’s all dirty. Just throw it away.”

But Madeline clutched it like a treasure, rubbing it over and over in her palm. “You gave this to me five years ago when I had my surgery. I’ve cherished it ever since. I could never throw it away.”

So…

So he had given the good luck charm to Madeline five years ago.

The brutal truth left Claire stunned for a long moment, and then she started to laugh.

Her heart was twisting in agony.

She shoved her already cold hands into her coat pockets, clenching them into tight fists.

Her nails dug so deep they nearly broke the skin of her palms.

The wound in her heart, which had never truly healed, was brutally torn open again by Felix.

It was raw and bleeding.

She lunged for the charm again, only to be pushed back once more by Felix.

With red-rimmed eyes, Claire glared at him. “That’s my charm! Please return it to its rightful owner!”

When Madeline heard her demand, she clutched it even tighter and looked at Felix with a wounded expression.

Felix’s face immediately hardened

as he snapped at Claire, “It’s just a charm

already gave it to her.

You’re her cousin, how can you bë so petty? If you want one, I’ll go with you to get another one.”

“It wouldn’t be the same.”

And she didn’t need it anymore.

Right now, she just wanted her own thing back.

So Claire stood her ground. “What’s mine is mine. Please give it back to me now!”

Felix’s expression grew darker.

Seeing this, Madeline quickly held the charm out to Felix, her eyes welling with tears. “Felix, I didn’t know it was Claire’s. Maybe you should give it back to her. don’t mind, really. Please dont fight because of me. Just talk things out.’

Felix’s face grew even more grim. He pushed the charm back into her hand. “I gave

it to you, so it’s yours. There’s no reason to give it back.”

Then he shot Claire an icy glare. “This is a hospital, and Madeline is a patient. You

need to pick a better time and place to make a scene.”

So, even now, he still thought she was just making a scene.

Felix, always wounding her without even realizing it.

She tore her gaze from Felix’s face and fixed it on Madeline’s with a cold fury.

Out of Felix’s line of sight, Madeline shot Claire a triumphant, provocative look.

But as soon as Claire’s eyes were on her, she flinched and burrowed into Felix’s arms, as if terrified.

This immediately earned her Felix’s protection. He asked with a worried expression, “Did you hurt yourself again?”

When Madeline shook her head, Felix let out a sigh of relief, then glared at Claire as if she were some kind of monster.

Madeline immediately clutched

Felix’s sleeve, feigning innocence as she pleaded for claire Claire is just

angry I’m the one who wasn’t steady on my feet and fell. It has nothing to do with her.”
