Chapter 878
“Reasons, my ass! He’s just a cheating scumbag who couldn’t keep his pants zipped!”
Claire might not have known the entire story, but she knew more than enough. As Noreen’s best friend, she would always, always side with her.
And from her perspective, Seth had destroyed Noreen.
No matter how you spun it, he had betrayed her!
“You ungrateful prick! What reasons? Where were you when your sleazy friends were whispering behind Noreen’s back, accusing her of sleeping her way to the top? If you had just stood up and said you were drugged by a competitor, I might have actually respected you!”
“She rushed in to save you, and you took advantage of her! Then you completely denied it and let all your low-life buddies think she tricked you into bed! You stood by and let them tear her reputation apart! What kind of monster does that?”
The ‘low-life buddy’ standing next to them quietly shrank back.
“She said there was no need to explain,” Seth managed to say, his voice strained, his face still stormy.
He had been selfish back then. He figured if everyone thought he and Noreen were involved, it would force Dylan to back off.
“She was too selfless! She didn’t want to cause you trouble! Just like when she drank herself into a gastric hemorrhage trying to secure that deal for you! She lost your baby and nearly died on the operating table!”
“Where were you when that happened?”
“You were in Harborview City, rekindling things with your precious old flame!”
Claire was a furious lioness, ready to pounce and tear this man to shreds for what he had done to Noreen.
The blood froze in Seth’s veins. Something exploded in his skull, completely consuming him.
A sharp, agonizing pain pierced his chest.
“What did you just say?”
It felt as though a soaking wet sponge were lodged in his throat. He forced the words out with immense difficulty.
“If you’re deaf, go see a doctor! Don’t play dumb with me! I’m not buying your innocent act!”
Seth completely ignored her insults, zeroing in on her revelation. “You said she had a miscarriage? When? Why didn’t I know?”
Claire laughed bitterly. “How could
you know? You were too busy fawning over your old flame! You were too busy paying a fortune to bring her back from abroad, and too busy taking the rewards Noreen
nearly died for, just to hand them to another woman!”
Seth’s jaw clenched so hard a muscle ticked. His heart seized violently in his chest.
What… what had he done?
“When the doctors finally pulled her back from the brink of death, I asked her if
he regretted it. She said no.” She Said you would never letcher lose.”
“She was so stupid! While you were
sneaking around rekindling things
with Bianca, she was picking.
out a
ring to propose to you!”
Propose?
She had bought a ring to propose to him?
Seth clutched his chest, the agonizing pain intensifying until it was unbearable.
Every word Claire spoke was a jagged blade, violently carving out pieces of his heart.
Her figure slowly blurred in his vision, clouded by a sudden sheen of tears.
Claire’s relentless shouting came to an abrupt halt when she saw the moisture pooling in his eyes.
A cold breeze swept past, clearing her head slightly.
She thought to herself:
*Did I… actually make him cry?*
