Even with all of Lynch Properties’ expansion over the years, they still couldn’t hold a candle to the might of Harcourt Group.
That was exactly why Quinn was dragging his feet.
But Riley was completely blinded by a decade of rage. Ignoring his uncle’s hesitation, he hoisted the heavy baseball bat high, ready to bring it crashing down on Seth’s leg.

Quinn realized what was happening and opened his mouth to stop him.
Suddenly, the heavy door was kicked wide open. A towering figure stormed into the room and launched a brutal kick straight into Riley’s ribs.
Riley was sent flying backward, slamming violently into the mirrored wall behind him with a sickening thud and an agonizing wail.
Before anyone could react, the room erupted with a chorus of pained screams.
It was the four massive enforcers pinning Seth down.
Colby tore through them one by one, tossing their battered bodies onto the floor right next to a groaning Riley.
Quinn’s knees buckled from pure terror. He staggered backward and collapsed hard onto the carpet.
When Noreen rushed in behind Colby, she nearly tripped over Quinn’s sprawling form.
Dodging him, she sprinted straight to Seth, grabbing his arms. Her hands shook with a faint, uncontrollable tremor. “Are you okay? Did they hurt you?”
“I’m perfectly fine. Don’t worry,” Seth murmured, his voice so impossibly soft and gentle it was hard to believe he was the same man who was just radiating murderous intent moments ago.
Noreen didn’t believe him. Her hands frantically mapped over his arms and chest, desperate to check for injuries.
Seeing the absolute panic written all over her face, a deeply satisfied smile actually spread across Seth’s lips. “Were you worried about me?”
Noreen had been terrified out of her mind for the entire car ride here. Hearing his teasing tone, a surge of overwhelming frustration and anger washed over her.
She suddenly leaned forward and bit down hard on the side of his neck.
It was the only way she could ground herself, the only way her racing heart could finally believe he was safe in her arms.
Seth let out a sharp gasp, but he didn’t pull away. He just let her sink her teeth into him, the smile on his face growing even wider.
He even had the audacity to joke, “If you’re still not sure, we can always book a private room upstairs. I’ll let you inspect every inch of me as thoroughly as you want.”
Furious and embarrassed, Noreen smacked his chest.
Seth used the momentum to pull her flush against his chest, holding her tight and stroking her back soothingly.
The atmosphere in the room had whiplashed violently from a gritty mob execution to a steamy romance movie, leaving everyone thoroughly stunned.
Jude had just arrived at the doorway. Taking one look at the two of them clutching
each other, he silently turned around and walked away.
It was obvious they didn’t need him here.
The damsel had already swooped in to save her knight.
The police burst onto the scene shortly after, demanding to know who had called them in.
Sophia stepped forward and quickly summarized the attempted assault.
“Everyone’s coming down to the station,” the commanding officer barked. “We’ll get the full story there.”
Riley, Quinn, and their hired muscle were all dragged out in handcuffs.
Noreen insisted on accompanying Seth to the precinct herself.
While taking his statement, the detective asked Seth exactly why Riley was trying to brutally attack him.
Noreen only knew about the feud between Quinn and Seth.
Back when she was still working as Seth’s secretary, she had attended a banquet with him where they bumped into Quinn.
