Chapter 992
There were no security cameras in the restroom. As long as she insisted Claire was the one who hurt her, she wasn’t afraid of the police.
Besides, her injury was real. When the cops arrived, they would naturally side with the victim.
At this moment, Madeline secretly rejoiced that she had been ruthless enough to hurt herself.
The police arrived quickly. After a brief questioning, they took Claire to the precinct for a formal statement.
Since Madeline’s hand was injured, the officers arranged for her to be escorted to the hospital first.
Naturally, Felix went with her.
Before leaving, he hesitated for a second and looked back at Claire.
Unfortunately, Claire didn’t look at him.
She completely ignored him.
She only had eyes for another man now.
By the time Claire walked out of the police station, it was past midnight.
The winter wind in Northcrest was brutal. Within seconds, Claire was shivering from the freezing cold.
A familiar Maybach with a silver roof was parked right outside the station.
As she stepped out, the car door opened, and Felix stepped out.
It looked like he had come to pick her up.
But he seemed to have forgotten.
They didn’t live together.
And she wouldn’t go home with him.
So Claire walked right past him, heading to the street to hail a cab.
“The doctor said Madeline’s injury isn’t serious. As long as you go and apologize to her, I can have her drop the case,” Felix said stiffly. “Claire, you’re a public figure. Getting tangled up in a lawsuit will only hurt you. You should know when to back down. There’s no need to ruin your reputation just to spite me.”
“Felix, has anyone ever told you that you are completely full of yourself?” Spite him?
“You’re really not that important.” Claire stated the fact clearly once again.
Hearing her say that he wasn’t important aloud made Felix’s heart skip a beat.
An indescribable sense of panic began to spread within him.
He asked instinctively, “Then who is important? Wilbur?”
“Are you out of your mind again?” Claire truly despised this man from the bottom of her heart.
“If there’s really nothing going on between you two, why were you having dinner together in the middle of the night?” He finally blurted out the question that had been suffocating him. “What kind dinner do you have to eat with another man this late? Did you forget you’re a married woman?”
When Madeline had pointed it out earlier, he could still deny it.
But it had planted a thorn in his heart, leaving him deeply unsettled.
Claire actually laughed out of sheer anger. “You are so weird. I’m just treating you
exactly how you treat me, and now you’re mad.”
“Before interrogating others, take a look in the mirror. Weren’t you out having dinner
with another woman in the middle of the night?”
“Didn’t you also forget the fact that you are married?”
“Oh right, you’ve been doing this for
four years, so you naturally think
there’s nothing wrong with your
behavior and that everyone else is
the problem. Right?”
“Felix, your double standards are astounding.”
Felix’s jaw clenched tight before he forced out an explanation. “Whether you believe
it or not, there really is nothing going on between me and her.”
Claire mimicked his tone. “Whether you believe it or not, there really is nothing
going on between me and Wilbur either.”
Fight magic with magic.
Give the jerk a taste of his own medicine until he had nothing left to say.
She had dressed lightly when she came out, and now she was shivering from the cold. Her fragile
body really couldn’t keep net
with him. Claire decided to leave.
She raised her hand to hail a cab.
A black Bentley approached and pulled up smoothly in front of her.
