Chapter 1046
“Let’s put it to a vote,” Crystal demanded firmly, reminding Dylan again. “Everyone is waiting.”
…
Claire had cooked an entire table full of Noreen’s favorite dishes.
She didn’t understand corporate politics and couldn’t offer any professional help, so she simply wanted to comfort her friend in the only way she knew how.
Just like in the past, whenever Noreen was heartbroken over a breakup, Claire would make her a massive feast.
She would always tell her that a full stomach was the best cure for a broken heart.
But Noreen was acting as if everything was perfectly normal.
Even her appetite hadn’t been affected in the slightest.
Since Noreen wasn’t bringing it up, Claire didn’t feel comfortable prying.
She was afraid of adding to her stress.
But that night, lying in bed, Claire tossed and turned, completely unable to sleep.
She racked her brain trying to figure out where she could get a massive sum of money to help Noreen weather the storm.
After agonizing over it for hours, she finally landed on a solution.
Sitting up in bed, she hesitated for a long time before finally dialing Felix Quigley’s number.
He answered almost immediately.
His promptness caught Claire off guard, leaving her momentarily speechless.
After ten seconds of dead silence, Felix took the initiative. “Did you need something?”
Throwing caution to the wind, Claire blurted out, “You said before that if I didn’t divorce you, you’d give me ten percent of the Quigley Group. Is that offer still on the table?”
Felix paused briefly. “It is.”
Although the thought of staying married to him made her skin crawl.
If it meant saving Noreen, she was willing to choke down her pride and accept the deal.
“Are you free tomorrow? Let’s talk in person,” she said firmly.
He replied quickly this time. “Alright. You’re in Rivercrest City, right?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll be there first thing in the morning.”
“Okay,” Claire agreed.
Then she hung up.
Felix immediately called his secretary. “Book the fastest flight to Rivercrest City.”
“The earliest flight is at five in the morning, sir,” the secretary replied after a quick search.
“Forget it. I’ll just drive there,” Felix decided.
He didn’t want to wait that long.
He was terrified Claire would change her mind.
The secretary was stunned.
“Right now?”
“Yes, right now. We’re driving to Rivercrest City overnight.”
Friday was Noreen’s birthday.
It was supposed to be a joyous occasion, but Winrich’s stock crashed to absolute rock bottom that very morning.
Before leaving the house, Noreen told Claire she would see her at the party later. Claire agreed.
But the moment Noreen left, Claire slipped out as well.
Before hailing a cab, she called Felix to ask if he had arrived.
He sent her a location pin and told her to meet him there.
Claire checked her watch. It was only eight in the morning, and he was already in Rivercrest City.
Did he take the earliest flight?
He certainly got here fast.
It was supposed to be a forty-minute
drive to their meeting spot, but with?
né
the morning rush hour traffic, the trip stretched to a full bour .net>
She kept checking her watch, her anxiety mounting, and urged the driver to step on
it.
The driver was already impatient, and with her prodding, his driving grew erratic.
That recklessness quickly led to disaster.
After a loud crunch, the driver stared

Claire rubbed her bruised forehead and peered out the window.
He was right… he was absolutely ruined.
They had rear-ended a Maybach!!!
Trembling like a leaf, the driver
ve
scrambled out of the cab and rushed over to the Maybach’s window, groveling and begging for forgiveness.
Claire felt terrible. The accident was entirely her fault for rushing him.
So she opened her door and stepped out, intending to negotiate a settlement with
the owner.
She would cover whatever it cost.
But before she could even reach the luxury car, she heard a very familiar voice.
