Chapter 1177
Thanks to Seth’s masterful guidance, dinner turned out to be a success.
Noreen happily planted a kiss on Seth’s cheek.
Seth scooped her up and carried her to the sofa.
The apartment was small and didn’t have a dining room, so they usually ate at the low coffee table in the living room.
Seth was meticulously peeling shrimp for her.
Noreen suddenly thought of the nickname Rosalind Gilmore had given him and had to bite her lip to hold back a laugh.
Jokes aside, Seth was incredible at peeling shrimp.
In no time at all, he had a whole plate ready.
He even arranged the peeled shrimp in perfectly neat rows, making it almost feel like a crime to ruin his masterpiece.
It wasn’t until Seth brought a piece of shrimp right to her lips that she finally started eating.
As she chewed, she looked around the apartment.
It was filled with his presence, everything organized strictly according to his taste. Every single item was placed with immaculate precision.
It felt like extreme OCD.
And a severe case of it, at that.
Even the sticky notes on the wall were aligned perfectly straight, with equal spacing down to the millimeter.
She remembered the kitchen earlier-the plates, the pans, even the spice jars were perfectly lined up.
The old Seth definitely had a clean freak streak, but his OCD was never this intense.
After dinner, Noreen insisted on washing the dishes, citing that his injured finger shouldn’t touch the water.
Seth gave in, but refused to leave her side.
For every plate she washed, he dried it, then stacked it flawlessly in the sterilizer.
Noreen glanced at him and asked, “When did you get so obsessive about keeping things perfectly aligned?”
Seth’s hand froze holding a plate.
He quickly masked it, asking casually, “Am I?”
“Yeah. Haven’t you noticed?”
“I haven’t paid attention.”
Noreen wanted to press him, but Seth abruptly changed the subject.
“Did you go to Omniva Group this afternoon?” he asked.
Now it was Noreen’s turn to feel guilty.
Though she had no idea why she should feel guilty in the first place.
“I was going to,” she explained, “but when I saw you were hurt, I ditched Mr. Wilder and came straight here.”
“Hmm,” Seth replied, looking totally unfazed.
But Noreen knew better. He was drowning in a sea of jealousy right now.
He was probably seething on the inside.
Noreen quickly dried her hands, turned around, and wrapped her arms around his waist. Standing on her tiptoes, she leaned in for a kiss.
Seth dodged it!
Noreen grabbed his collar, trying to pull him down to her level.
But he stayed rooted like a stubborn statue.
Noreen couldn’t fathom how deep this jealous spiral went.
She pleaded softly, “I wasn’t trying to hide it from you. It was just the final bit of paperwork to sign. I didn’t see the point in bringing it up since it would only put you in a bad mood.”
Seth stared at her intensely. “And not telling me put me in a good mood?”
Fair point.
Noreen swayed back and forth,
keeping her arms locked around his waist. “I didn’t have a choice! It’s business. You can’t just get wildly jealous over every little thing. You can’t lock me away and forbid
me
from ever another man for the rest of my life, can you?”
His eyes darkened dangerously at her movement. His hand shot to the small of her
back, dragging her flush against him.
His nose brushed against hers, his voice rough and burning. “You think I haven’t wanted to?”
A chill swept down Noreen’s spine.
It wasn’t fear, but the undeniable, predatory seriousness in his eyes was lethal.
She immediately slapped her hand
over his mouth, pressing her fingers
against his cool lips and glared at him fiercely. “Seth! Don’t you even think about it!”
