Chapter 58
Aaron just couldn’t accept it.
“Edison, this is all a misunderstanding. Please, give me another chance. I only trusted what Jane said, and I was trying to do what was best for the mall p>
When Edison didn’t budge, Aaron turned to Claire and Pandora, desperate now.
“I’m so sorry. I really didn’t handle this well. Please, forgive me this time. I’m not young anymore. I have parents to take care of and kids to feed. I can’t afford to lose this job p>
Aaron was practically sobbing, tears streaming down his face. He never thought he’d get burned until it actually happened to him.
Claire didn’t feel an ounce of sympathy for people who threw their weight around just to serve themselves.
“That’s not what you were saying earlier,” she said, her voice cool and steady.
Aaron stared at her, shocked at how heartless she sounded. He quickly turned to Pandora, grasping at anything.
“Ma’am, please, forgive me for what I did. I really only believed Jane. This whole thing is just a misunderstanding p>
The girls who had been livestreaming the whole scene never expected things to flip like this. They’d been having a great time, watching Claire, once the star, get tossed out of a mall. But then Edison showed up and completely flipped the script, putting the manager in his place.
Now the girls were disappointed, and even the rich kids watching the stream felt let down.
One girl, still holding her phone, whispered, “Honestly, Claire’s being too unforgiving. Does she still think she’s the heiress of the James family or something p>
“Yeah, he has a family to feed. Isn’t that sad? And anyway, she didn’t even get thrown out in the end,” another girl replied.
The chat was full of comments just like that.
Edison noticed the girls streaming and frowned, then gave his assistant a quick look.
The assistant walked over to the group. “Sorry, ladies. Edison needs to deal with something private. Please stop recording p>
The girls wanted to refuse, but the assistant’s tone was firm, so they ended the stream. Still, none of them left. This drama was too good to miss.
Claire stood her ground. “I think Edison’s decision is completely fair. A mall manager who can’t tell right from wrand abuses his power, probably has already driven away away plenty of customers and hurt the mall’s business p>
Aaron couldn’t cry anymore. He glared at Claire, his face twisted with anger. “You’re
really holding a grudge, aren’t you p>
He looked like he might lose it any second.
“Everyone should accept the
consequences of their actions. I don’t think my granddaughter said anything wrong,” Pandora said, stepping right in front of Clare, calm and unyielding.
Edison took a step forward too. “Aaron, pack up your things and hand over your duties p>
Aaron tried to protest, but Edison had already turned away, focusing on Pandora instead.
Edison bowed slightly to Pandora. “I’m sorry, Chairwoman. I apologize for all this trouble p>
Chairwoman?
The store manager and the other employees were staring at Pandora in shock. She
was dressed so simply, but p>
Even Claire could hardly believe it.
Did she just win without even trying? Again?
Who would have thought? Claire had
figured that leaving the James
family meant she’d be living a quiet, ordinary life, but it turned out her grandmother was a total
powerhouse, She fad a mansion ta the east side of the city and ar shopping mall downtown
Edison smiled as he made the introduction. “Everyone, let me introduce you. This is Pandora, Chairwoman of VIA Group p>
Aaron looked completely crushed. He’d really messed up this time. He’d picked the worst possible person to cross.
