Chapter 898

Who wouldn’t love vibrant, beautiful roses?

Claire took them and inhaled deeply. “They smell amazing.”

“I knew you’d love them.”

These were Highland Red Roses, passionately and romantically red.

Claire wanted to find a vase to put them in her room.

Padgett casually pointed to a vase on the antique display shelf.

Claire grabbed it and went to arrange the flowers.

Only Yolande and Seb whispered as they stared at the vase.

Seb muttered, “If I remember correctly, our uncle won that vase at a charity auction for millions of dollars.”

Yolande nodded. “You remember right. Rumor has it that it came from a royal palace centuries ago.”

She had attended that charity auction too; Ophelia had taken her to broaden her horizons.

Ophelia had even won a beautiful jade pendant for her.

Though it wasn’t as expensive as the vase, Yolande loved it.

“Padgett, you really spare no expense for Claire.”

Seb was a straightforward guy who dared to speak his mind.

Padgett couldn’t have cared less. “It’s just a vase. It was bought to hold flowers.”

Seb agreed, “You make a fair point.”

“Seb, I heard you made a little cake for Claire yesterday?”

Despite Padgett’s hands-off appearance, nothing escaped his control.

Everything that happened at the gala was under his watchful eye.

Seb hadn’t expected Padgett to notice that. His mouth twitched. “Yeah, I made a small cake, but Irma ate it.”

Padgett lifted his chin. “The kitchen has everything. Why don’t you go make another one?”

“It’s been a while since I’ve had anything made by the younger generation. You have good hands, Seb; I’m sure you can whip up another.”

Seb, who had originally wanted to play a prank, hesitated.

He didn’t dare act up in front of Padgett, so he obediently went to the kitchen to bake.

The previous lemon cake had used three whole lemons, but this time, the measurements were perfect.

The resulting lemon cake was refreshingly sweet and tart, absolutely delicious.

Even Claire was impressed.

“With this cake, you could totally open a dessert shop. I didn’t know you had this kind of talent.”

Claire didn’t hold back her praise.

Seb wasn’t embarrassed at all. He

tilted his

his chin up like a proud puppy.

“Not just anyone is qualified

desserts made by me!” cheat

The young heir had no intention of opening a dessert shop.

Claire was just making casual conversation; if he wasn’t interested, it was no skin off her nose.

Besides, Seb was still a high school sophomore. His future career plans were none of her business.

“Your mother’s nephew, the celebrity who got locked up…” Claire started gossiping with Yolande.

Mentioning him made Yolande furious.

“I don’t know what my mom was thinking. Now my uncle and aunt are blaming her.”

“They say she’s useless and couldn’t even handle such a small issue.”

“My mom really brought this on herself.”

Claire was speechless. The Byron family really had no sense of reality.

As for how many years he’d get, that was up to the law.

Either way, Leon wouldn’t escape prison.

Yolande expressed that she couldn’t persuade her mother at all.

Her mom would just accuse her of taking an outsider’s side.

Yolande was extremely disappointed in her mother.

Instead, Seb leaned in to spill the tea. “My mom took a bribe from Tiffany.”
