Chapter 782
The name Zoe literally meant ‘bringing luck to Hunter.’ It was perfect!
But a reporter had warned them that calling her Zoe in public would only make netizens hate Hunter more.
For Hunter’s sake, and to milk as much sympathy from the internet as possible, Beatrice was forced to adapt.
Claire listened to Beatrice’s introduction and then feigned realization. “Oh, it’s you.” “What can I do for you?” Claire looked at Beatrice with calm amusement.
“Take me to see my daughter. Isn’t she awake?”
Claire raised an eyebrow, offering only a polite, impenetrable smile. “I’m afraid I don’t know which room your daughter is in. Why don’t you give her a call?”
Beatrice’s face darkened. If they could get through to the damn girl, would the three of them be wandering around out here for hours?
No one answered her calls, not even Karla.
She was utterly convinced that Zoe and Karla were ignoring them on purpose.
Beatrice was furious, but she had no other options.
She could only try her luck at the hospital.
Running into Claire was supposed to be a stroke of good luck, but this wretched girl refused to help!
“Why make it so complicated? Just call Karla and ask!” Beatrice snapped,
suspecting Claire was being deliberately difficult.
Claire didn’t even try to deny it.
“Sorry, my phone is dead.”
Claire rejected her without a second thought.
Without giving Beatrice a chance to argue or make a scene, she turned and walked away.
Beatrice tried to chase after her but couldn’t keep up.
She was left asking anyone she could find in the lobby about Sienna’s room number.
But the hospital staff had strict orders. Sienna was a high-profile celebrity with severe injuries who needed absolute rest, and no one was allowed to disturb her.
So whenever anyone asked about Sienna, the staff were instructed to plead ignorance.
If someone tried to force their way in, security was ready to intercept them.
With strict orders coming from the top, the staff enforced them flawlessly.
No one cared how desperate the Darwins were to see Sienna; doing their jobs meant keeping them out.
As for the Darwins’ little schemes falling apart, it was exactly what they deserved.
Claire had originally intended to
straight to the lab, but she decide
to stop by and see Karla first
Karla was in Sienna’s room.
It was a VIP suite, impossible to access without prior authorization.
It cost significantly more, but the peace of mind was worth every penny.
At least they didn’t have to worry about sudden ambushes from paparazzi or Sienna’s bloodsucking parents.
“Claire, what brings you to the hospital?”
Karla hadn’t expected to see her today.
Especially since she had shown up completely alone, without Dane by her side.
Had Dane lost his patience and decided two hospital visits were enough for him?
“Stop looking around, Dane didn’t come.”
Claire seemed to read Karla’s mind effortlessly.
“He’s busy negotiating the Westside project acquisition with Latham.”
Dragging out the Westside project
only
would do no good and would upset the authorities. Resolving it quickly was for the best. .net>
Besides, everyone had a breaking point.
Dane was a master negotiator.
Claire didn’t feel the need for them to be attached at the hip anyway.
Hearing that Dane was handling real business, Karla dropped the subject.
“So you’re here to keep me company?”
Karla affectionately ruffled Claire’s hair.
“Not quite have to get to the lab.
just bumped into the Darwins at the entrance, so I thought d give you a
heads-up.”
“And I figured I’d check if your superstar is actually awake.”
Claire smiled, letting Karla fuss over her hair.
