Chapter 958
Leo laid out his suspicions.
Professor Yates wasn’t up to speed on internet culture, so he asked, “Chase what clout?”
“She’s trying to hype herself up as an influencer by exploiting this student’s injury.”
“You know as well as I do that the student injured today suffered trauma to a highly sensitive area.”
“If this gets leaked online, it’s guaranteed to generate a massive wave of traffic.”
“I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but her stunt saving someone with a fork on social media already sparked widespread attention. The whole internet is searching for the ‘Silverware Goddess’ right now.”
“If she uses this to manufacture another viral moment, she’ll secure her spot as a full-blown internet celebrity.”
“But you know exactly how delicate our consultation is today.”
“Setting aside the fact that an accident during military training will draw fierce public backlash against the school, the specific nature of this injury makes it highly explosive news if it hits the web.”
“We have to be on guard against someone so adept at manipulating the media and exploiting the medical field!”
Leo delivered his analysis with total conviction.
But Professor Yates simply didn’t think Claire looked like that kind of girl.
Vice President Finn was even more bewildered.
Claire had been brought in by Van. Would someone brought by Chief Instructor Hawk really dare to exploit a military training accident for internet fame?
Add Tandy’s glowing recommendation to the mix, and it was impossible for him to believe Claire was that malicious.
However, the student’s concerns weren’t entirely devoid of logic.
He instinctively glanced at Claire.
Claire offered a helpless smile. “You spin a compelling narrative, but tell me, Leo, where exactly are you getting the idea that I’m here for clout?”
“I left the camp in such a rush that I didn’t even bring my phone.”
Leo wasn’t about to let her off the hook that easily.
“You might not have your phone, but you probably have a whole production team hiding somewhere in this hospital!”
Leo fiercely clung to the belief that Claire had ulterior motives.
“Oh, then by all means, go hunt down my imaginary team right now. Just don’t delay
the actual medical work while you play detective.”
Claire couldn’t be bothered to argue with an idiot.
With his twisted logic, he could pin a massive conspiracy on her even if she did absolutely nothing, so defending herself was a waste of breath.
He was welcome to try and find this alleged team!
The burden of proof lay with the accuser.
That was, if Leo could actually produce a single shred of evidence.
“Your team might be hiding well, but I swear I’ll drag them out into the light.”
“Until then, you are absolutely forbidden from participating in this consultation.” Leo continued his aggressive tirade.
Unfazed, Claire unabashedly rolled her eyes at him. “Leo Cross, what exactly gives you the authority to dictate whether I stay or go?”
“Your big mouth?”
“My name is Leo!” Leo furrowed his brows, instinctively looking to his mentor for backup.
Unfortunately for him, Professor Yates felt Leo was hurling baseless accusations without a leg to stand on, and had zero intentiona defending him.
Meanwhile, Vice President Finn felt that Professor Yates’s student was the one being completely unreasonable.
“Leo, I haven’t formally introduced
her yet. She was brought here by Chief Instructor Hawk. When the victim was suffering from massive hemanhaging due to the piercing wound, she was the o who
stepped in and stopped the
bleeding.”
“Allowing her to join the consultation was my decision. I will take your concerns into consideration, but as it stands, you have zero evidence.”
“If you keep running your mouth, Claire would be well within her rights to sue you for defamation.”
Leo choked on his words. He had never anticipated this. It was bad enough that his mentor wasn’t backing him up, but why did vice
President Finn also think this gift was so capable?
Who the hell was she, and what exactly was her relationship with that Chief
Instructor Hawk?
