Chapter 872
“Will this plan actually work? Didn’t they say she was already spoken for by the guy from the Green family?” lieana hadn’t thought of that angle.
But upon closer consideration, getting her hands on the Churchill shares seemed like a much more lucrative prospect.
As for whether her son actually liked the girl that was completely irrelevant!
“If it’s already decided, why haven’t they announced it? Doesn’t that mean there’s still room for them to back out?”
Irma thought her idea was flawless. It would be a win-win for her and her brother.
The heir of the Green family was also present tonight.
Irma sneaked a few glances in Dane’s direction.
Seeing that Dane maintained a stoic, expressionless demeanor, she concluded he probably didn’t even like Claire that much.
She was just a country bumpkin, after all. How could she possibly be a match for Dane?
Claire let out a delicate sneeze, unsure if the banquet hall’s AC was cranked too high or if something else was irritating her.
After she had spent some time entertaining guests by Padgett’s side, he shooed her away to mingle with the younger crowd.
Yolande seized the opportunity to introduce Claire to a few of the Churchill relatives.
“Claire, this is Quinn Quincy, our cousin from Great-Aunt’s side of the family.”
Their great-aunt belonged to a branch family and was Padgett’s cousin.
Her family maintained a decent relationship with the main Churchill line.
They weren’t fabulously wealthy, but they were a respectable family of academics.
Quinn smiled and greeted Claire. “Claire, you’re absolutely stunning. Everyone says you look just like Melissa. Is it true?”
Seeing nothing but genuine curiosity in her eyes, Claire was happy to chat with her. “I think so. But I’ve never met my mom; I’ve only seen photos.”
Quinn instantly took a liking to her new cousin. They said she grew up in the countryside, but she had an extraordinary aura about her.
She waved her brother over. “This is my cousin Julian Quincy. His nickname is Jules, that’s what we all call him.”
“He should be around your age. He also got into The Cabinda University.”
“Jules is the smartest kid in our family.”
Standing off to the side, her sister Yara Quincy huffed in displeasure. “Quinn, what do you mean Julian is the smartest? I might only be a high school sophomore, but that doesn’t mean I won’t get into The Cabinda University!” sŵnovels
She was Quinn’s biological younger sister.
Quinn didn’t spare her feelings at all. “Do you want to take a look at your final exam scores before you say that?”
“Oh, right! I heard the top national scorer for the college entrance exam came from Apex. Claire, do you know… wait a second!”
Quinn stared closely at Claire. “Why do I remember that top scorer having the exact same name as you?”
Yolande beamed with pride. “That’s right. Our little sister is the top scorer.”
The three Quincy siblings were instantly dumbfounded.
“It’s really the same person?” Quinn asked. Her own grades weren’t spectacular, which was why she went to an art academy.
She looked at Julian. “Jules, you’re in the same grade as Claire. You must have known, right?”
Julian looked like an innocent, overgrown boy. He scratched his head. “Quinn, I was just about to say that. Claire is definitely the top scorer.”
The youngest, Yara, buried her face in her hands. “No way, seriously? Am I going to be the worst student in the family now?”
“I thought since you grew up in the country, your grades would be way worse than mine!”
Just a couple of days ago, when
me
their grandmother announced that Padgett had suddenly found a granddaughter from the countryside and demanded they all get along with her, Yara had been quite
resentful.
The Quincy family might not hold the same prestige as the Churchills, but they were still social s, and
Yara was the pampered princess of the household
Telling her to accommodate and suck up to someone else was simply impossible.
Regardless of who this person was, Yara had no intention of playing nice.
That is, unless she happened to genuinely like her!
