Chapter 89
Edison couldn’t stand kids like that, the ones who picked on anyone weaker than them but shrank away when faced with someone stronger. He pulled out a business card and pressed it into Bonnie’s hand.
“I’m Edison, from VIA Group. If you ever want to talk about your kid’s education, feel free to call me p>
VIA Group? There was nothing friendly about this guy. He gave off more of a mob boss vibe than anything else.
The dean was caught off guard. Was calling security actually the right call here?
Claire, on the other hand, looked like she’d just won the lottery. This was exactly the kind of guardian she’d always dreamed of. Someone who’d stand up for her no matter what. Someone who would protect her without hesitation.
And Edison’s attitude? So cool it almost made her laugh. Yesterday, she’d thought he was all calm and professional. No wonder Pandora trusted him to handle her business. Turns out, Edison was just really good at hiding his true self. Maybe he was a total fox in the business world, all smiles and schemes.
“Can I take my kid home now?” Edison asked. “She’s been scared badly enough. And tell me, did that boy say those things to her just because she’s not the James family heiress anymore p>
He looked straight at the dean, who had no idea how to reply. It was true. Most of the kids would probably treat Claire differently now. She’d enjoyed the perks of her old identity, but now that everyone knew the truth, some people were bound to make fun of her.
The dean’s silence said it all.
Edison let out a cold laugh. “The James family? What’s so special about them anyway p>
The dean felt even more lost for words. Edison really did look wild and untamable.
Taking Claire by the hand, Edison headed for the door. As they passed Jasper and his mom, Edison paused and glanced at them.
“Let me know how much your son’s medical bills are. You can come to VIA Group and I’ll cover it for you p>
He added, “Do you need anything for nutrition or emotional trauma p>
Bonnie felt completely trapped. She gritted her teeth. “No, that won’t be necessary. Kids fight, it’s over now p>
But as soon as she got home, she was definitely going to look into who this Edison really was.
Edison led Claire out of the office.
Sophia’s mom decided to follow suit,
grabbing her own daughter and
heading out too. As they passed
Jasper’s mom, she stopped and
asked, “So do I owe you anything for medi
lical bills nutrition, or emotional trauma p>
She had, after all, punched Jasper’s mom as well.
Bonnie felt even more humiliated.
“No,” she said sharply, eyeing Sophia’s mom warily. “At most, you could call it a mutual fight. We’ll each deal with our own side p>
Bonnie figured if she really had to, she could toss this short woman some cash. Maybe she was so short because she’d missed out on nutrition as a kid.
Sophia’s mom nodded, satisfied. “Till next time, then p>
Bonnie shot back, “Let’s hope there isn’t a next time p>
Wait. The dean suddenly realized something was off. How could everyone just walk out? Weren’t they here to solve a problem? The office
hadn’t even come to a decision.yet,
and now everyone was
was just taking
their kids and leaving?
Adolph leaned over and whispered, “Isn’t that the best outcome? Nobody’s
complaining, and it’s all settled p>
Outside, Claire finally came back to her senses.
“Edison, we can’t just leave it like this. I want Jasper to apologize to me in front of the whole school. He should write an apology letter, too. If I just let this go, it’ll only encourage more people to bully me p>
Sophia and her mom, who had just walked out, heard Claire’s words.
“Edison, Claire’s right. The school needs to make Jasper apologize and write a statement p>
Edison nodded. “Alright, let’s head back.” He turned around without hesitation.
