Cindy’s compliment made Molly blush, a little flustered. She tucked her hair behind her ear and mumbled, “It’s not a big deal. I just can’t stand it when people pick on others p>

It was obvious she was talking about Claire.

Sophia rolled her eyes, not bothering to hide her annoyance. “Who’s picking on who? Just because we didn’t wait for her, that’s bullying now p>

Molly shrank back, her confidence vanishing the second Sophia spoke up. “I wasn’t talking about you p>

“Oh, really? I was with Claire. We were running late. Were we supposed to just stand there and wait for her forever p>

Most people felt bad for the so-called real heiress, so they naturally sided with Cindy.

But Sophia was different.

She was friends with Claire because she liked her as a person, not because of her background. Whether Cindy was the James family heiress or not didn’t matter to her at all. To be honest, she couldn’t stand Cindy’s constant tears and fragile act. In her eyes, Cindy was making a big deal out of nothing.

So what if they didn’t wait for her? Why make such a scene?

“The new girl couldn’t find her way. Would it have killed you to wait a minute?” Molly grumbled, glancing over at Claire.

Under her breath, she muttered, “Claire lived in Cindy’s place for eighteen years. The least she could do is look out for her now p>

Sophia looked like she was about to explode. Claire gave her a quick pat on the arm, then turned to Molly. “If you want to be someone’s lapdog, that’s your business. Don’t drag me into it p>

“Who are you calling a lapdog?” Molly shot up, furious.

“Molly, what’s going on p>

The teacher had walked in. The bell had already stopped ringing, and the first thing she saw was Molly standing up. To her, it looked like Molly was challenging her authority.

Molly dropped back into her seat. “Nothing, teacher p>

Cindy glanced up, then pulled out her textbook. She leaned over and whispered, “Thanks for speaking up for me, Molly p>

“You’re my first friend at Silverpeak International College p>

Claire’s lapdog comment still stung, but hearing Cindy call her a friend took away some of the hurt.

Meanwhile, Barry had flown back to Apex early that morning and went straight to the hospital. His first stop was Daniel’s room, checking how he was doing.

After that, he turned to his student. “Lawler, did you get in touch with the traditional medicine practitioner? When is she coming p>

Just hearing the question gave Lawler a headache. “She said she has class and can’t come to the hospital p>

“Class?” Barry looked surprised. “You mean she’s still a student p>

If she really was, it could only mean she was crazy talented.

“That’s what she told me. I haven’t been able to confirm it p>

“She looks pretty young, but Lawler trailed off, not finishing his thought.

Barry caught his meaning right away.

“It might not be just an excuse. Traditional medicine is all about passing knowledge down. You only started learning Western medicine in college but some traditional

practitioners start learning formulas when they’re three p>

Lawler knew that better than anyone. His father and grandfather were both in traditional medicine.

“Alright, I’ll try calling her myself

around lunchtime,” Barry said. He

was genuinely curious about Claire’s

acupuncture techniques. Even if

there was a chance she was just

just

making excuses, he wasnt ready to

give up.

“Professor, if you call her personally, wouldn’t that be Lawler hesitated, not wanting to offend.

He just felt bad for his mentor. It seemed like Barry was lowering himself, and if Claire turned him down, it would be a real hit to his pride.
