Norris wasn’t totally sure what Sammie meant, but since his own family hadn’t reunited with her yet, he figured there was no need to spill anything to Sammie for
now.
The Churchill family stayed wary and a little hostile toward everyone when it came to Melissa. Even though Norris truly appreciated Sammie and had been helped by him, he still couldn’t help but feel a bit suspicious.
“Maybe all pretty girls just have a similar vibe?” Norris said, trying to play it off. “Professor, I’m going to get lunch. Are you heading back, or p>
“I’ll go back first. No need to wait for me p>
After Claire set down her tray, her roommates and Len’s group finally wandered
over.
“Claire, you’re so bold. How did you end up sitting with Sammie?” Len asked, wide- eyed.
Whenever Sammie was around, everyone got tense. He was strict in class, and even though he’d patiently explain problems afterward, nobody could really relax around him. He was just that brilliant, and honestly, a little intimidating.
“I just wanted to ask him a math question,” Claire said, making up an excuse with a shrug.
“Sammie’s a math genius. Isn’t it kind of an honor to eat with him?” She grinned and laughed at herself.
The others exchanged glances, thinking she actually had a point. Even if they were about to get eliminated and never make it to the IMO, being able to say they’d shared a table with Sammie was bragging rights for sure.

“Is Sammie actually nice outside of class? I’ve never dared to talk to him p>
Claire answered all their questions, one after another. After hearing her stories, Sammie didn’t sound so scary anymore.
Just then, Howler Carr walked by their group. Carr let out a sarcastic snort. “Such a suck-up p>
Before anyone could respond, he kept walking like nothing happened.
Claire heard him and burst out laughing. “You said it already, so why rush off? Scared I’ll hit you again or something p>
As soon as she called him out, Carr picked up his pace. But Claire wasn’t about to let him go that easily.
“I’m talking to you, Carr. Are you pretending to be deaf p>
“Who were you calling a suck-up? Say it again if you’re so brave p>
It wasn’t like Claire wanted to fight, but Carr was just so annoying, always making snide comments

dared to confront anyone directly, just furked in the background stirring things up. Rumor had it that the guys in his dorm were too scared to argue with him, worried he’d snap and do something crazy.

Carr froze, panicking inside. With her recording, there was no way he’d keep running his mouth. He’d heard
