That calm, businesslike tone made Molly’s mom even angrier.
“You girls are classmates. She just told a tiny lie. It’s just a silly fight between kids.

“Molly already knows she was wrong. She’s willing to apologize. Why are you being so harsh? How can a girl your age have such a cold heart p>
“Enough. Stop it.” Molly’s dad stepped in, pulling his wife back.
He was a businessman, more clear-headed than his wife. Even though Claire was just a teenager, she stood there calm and collected, acting like none of this bothered her. Clearly, she wasn’t someone you could just push around.
She might not be the James family heiress anymore, but you could still see the way she carried herself. Girls raised in families like that might look innocent, but they had a sharp edge underneath.
