Chapter 465
Just then, the doctor doing rounds walked in and caught Karla rubbing ointment on Oakley’s hand. She jumped in right away. “Hey, wait p>
“What’s wrong p>
Both Karla and Oakley glanced up, a little startled.
“What exactly are you doing p>
Barry, another doctor, rushed into the room next. She zeroed in on the tiny jar Karla was holding.
“What’s in that bottle? You’re just putting anything on his hand p>
“It’s just scar cream. What else would it be?” Karla looked confused. The doctor was acting like she was letting Oakley eat mystery pills. “It’s not like I’m having him ingest it p>
And she was only testing it on his hand. It wasn’t like she was smearing it on his face. The injury was nothing serious anyway. Just a small scrape, no bandage even needed.
“He’s a celebrity. You can’t go applying random stuff to his skin p>
“If anything happens, who’s responsible p>
“Our hospital’s not going to take the blame, that’s for sure p>
Felipa wasn’t the main doctor in charge, more like a med student working under her attending. Still, sometimes when the main doctor was away, Felipa stepped up and handled things. And as it happened, she was a huge fan of Oakley, completely obsessed with his well-being.
Ever since he’d been admitted, Felipa had been on cloud nine. She didn’t dare brag about it, but she was so happy she probably smiled in her sleep every night. Naturally, she kept a close eye on Oakley’s care. Even though she knew Karla was Oakley’s manager, she wasn’t about to let anyone, manager or not, do something risky. Especially not when it came to his face. Who could guarantee nothing would go wrong?
“I’m his manager,” Karla replied, “Don’t you think I know how important this is p>
She felt kind of helpless. “I get that the hospital wants to be careful, but your staff already told us there’s a good chance he’ll have a scar and might need cosmetic treatment later. We’re just trying to help him heal faster with this cream p>
“Barry, we’re on the same side, aren’t we p>
Even if Felipa hadn’t said she was a fan, Karla could tell. It was obvious. As long as Felipa stayed professional, Karla didn’t care. Fans Would be fans Right now she just
figured Barry was overly nervous.
“We are, but what’s in that scar cream? Is it even certified?” Barry frowned at the jar.
“The packaging looks like something you’d buy online from some random seller p>
“Karla, it’s not that I’m accusing you of anything, but I have to look out for my patient p>
Barry studied the ointment, spotting a potential problem right away.
Karla spoke up. “Yeah, I know the packaging doesn’t look great, but I had a doctor put this together, specifically for Oakley. It works really well. And it’s not like I’m putting t right on his face. We’re just testing it on his hand first, just in case p>
Cóntent
She shot Oakley a look, hoping he’d help clear things up. No one could calm his own diehard fan except for Oakley himself.
Oakley turned to Barry. “Really, you don’t need to worry. I trust Karla completely. She’d never let anything bad happen to me p>
“We’re just seeing how it works on my hand. If it seems fine, then maybe we’ll use it on my face later p>
“Karla’s my manager, and what happens to me affects her too. She’s probably more stressed about my looks than anyone p>
So really, Barry’s panic seemed pointless.
Barry fell quiet, not sure how to argue with Oakley himself. Of course Oakley was going to back his manager up.
“But if that cream interacts badly, with the hospital’s medication, then what?” Barry pressed. She genuinely believed she was protecting Oakley so why did it feel like he was siding against her?
“I don’t think it will,” Oakley said, though honestly, he had no clue. He wasn’t a doctor.
Felipa looked at Karla. “Why don’t you let me take the cream? I’ll get it tested in the lab. If it’s safe, you can use it p>
That sounded like overkill.
Karla raised her brows. “Or we could just call in Dr. Pope and ask him. If he says it’s okay, we can move forward p>
