“I’m not putting the ointment on Oakley’s face right now. It’s just a little scrape, so using a bit on his hand shouldn’t matter.” Karla had already made up her mind. Nothing Felipa said was going to change it.

She’d actually scooped out a tiny bit earlier and sent it with a friend to get tested in a lab. They’d have the results soon, so she wasn’t doing this because she didn’t trust Claire. It was about protecting her. Karla always played it safe.

“Okay. Let’s wait for Dr. Pope to come back before we talk more.” Felipa still wasn’t ready to give up. She’d started off wanting to take the whole jar for testing, but when Karla refused, she argued for just a little. Karla shot that down too.

Claire had told them the cream was running low, and not to waste it unless they had to. What if they ran out and needed it later?

Frustrated, Felipa tried to convince Oakley directly, but Oakley just listened to his manager without question. It drove Felipa nuts. Out of options, she slipped out to fetch her supervisor for backup.

Meanwhile, Karla gently dabbed the ointment onto Oakley’s hand. Just as she finished, Felipa was back.

“Is there something else, Felipa?” Karla asked, her polite smile not quite reaching

her eyes.

Felipa’s motives were painfully obvious, but she didn’t seem to notice. Did she really think Karla would risk her own client being the subject of hospital gossip?

“No, nothing,” Felipa said quickly. “I just want to observe. If Oakley has any kind of reaction to the cream, I’ll be here to treat it right away p>

Felipa had come up with the perfect excuse, so Karla couldn’t really send her packing.

“Thanks for your dedication, Dr. Barry. Doctors as devoted as you are hard to come by. When Oakley gets discharged, we’ll definitely send you a big thank-you banner,” Karla replied, her words just a touch ironic.

Oakley chimed in, “Yeah, we’ll send it as soon as I’m out of here p>

Felipa was speechless for a second. Did she really care about a thank-you banner? On second thought, since it would come from her favorite celebrity, why not accept it?

“Thank you, then. I appreciate it,” she replied.

Claire, meanwhile, had no clue her cream had almost been taken for testing. Karla had saved her from losing half the jar.

When Felipa’s supervisor finally arrived, Karla handed over the ointment for inspection.

“This smells pretty natural. Is it made from herbs?” he asked.

“Yes, it is,” Karla nodded.

“It should be safe. You tried it on his hand, right? Any problems so far p>

“None,” Karla said.

“Good. Keep using it on his hand for

a couple of days. If the scar fades

and his face doesn’t need medicated ointment anymore, then go ahead and use this cream” the docte decided

Felipa opened her mouth to argue, but a look from the attending physician shut her

up fast. As soon as they stepped outside, he started in on her.
