Chapter 475
The Cascadia team came ready to win. They weren’t just hoping for first place— they were counting on it. But honestly, wasn’t everyone?
“We’re rivals this time. Even if you’re gorgeous, don’t expect me to take it easy on you,” Elvis said, sounding completely sure of himself.
Claire grinned. “No need. May the best person win p>
Elvis liked that she didn’t get annoyed. If anything, her easy laughter made her even more likable. “You’re easily the prettiest girl from Solenia I’ve seen,” he said, not holding back at all. He assumed a line like that would make any girl happy. Wasn’t that what they all liked-compliments and sweet words?
“You just haven’t met enough Solenian girls,” Claire replied, dead serious. “There are loads of beautiful ones where I’m from p>
He leaned in a little, trying to be smooth. “Maybe, but you’re something special. Honestly, your eyes practically tell stories on their own He waved his hands, struggling to find the right words.
Before Claire could think of a comeback, she felt a strange chill, the kind that warns you trouble’s coming. She turned and there was a stunning blonde, stomping straight toward her. The girl’s glare was icy, full of fury, like she was ready for a fight.
Claire’s instincts kicked in and she stepped back, putting space between her and Elvis.
But the blonde kept coming and snatched a glass of red wine from a nearby table.
“Julia?” Elvis recognized her and quickly moved to block her path to Claire. Julia had a reputation for losing her temper and her family had plenty of pull around here. She acted like she owned everyone else. Every time Elvis even spoke to another girl, Julia flew off the handle.
“Elvis, get out of my way. Who is she?” Julia started to shove Elvis aside and without warning, tossed the wine straight at Claire.
Claire was quick. She dodged and the wine missed, splattering harmlessly on the floor. Before Julia could attack again, Claire coolly grabbed another glass and sent it flying right into Julia’s face.
The whole room went silent.
n’t believe his eyes. He’d
Elvis couldn’t
never seen anyone fight back against Julia. Sure, a couple of people had tried before, but her bodyguards would always step in right away. This time, they looked just as shocked as everyone else Nobody expected anyone to stand up to Julia, especially not like that.
Usually, Julia was the one picking fights. Elvis would try to calm things down, but he’d never seen anyone react so quickly and fearlessly as Claire had just done.
Julia screamed, her face blotchy with red wine. Her bodyguards rushed forward. Elvis suddenly snapped out of his shock and jumped in front of Claire. “Julia, I barely know her. She’s a tournament competitor-you can’t just treat her like this.” Julia’s eyes blazed with tears and anger. “Are you blind, Elvis? She’s the one who attacked me p>
“You threw wine at her first!” Elvis said, trying to stay calm.
“So what if I did? Why are you always taking her side? Admit it, you like her, don’t you?” Julia all but shouted.
She didn’t tell her bodyguards what to do next, so they hesitated, not wanting to force Elvis out of the way.
The commotion quickly drew Norris and the other Solenian students. They rushed over to Claire, standing around her protectively.
Norris, looking worried, checked her
over and noticed a few small
splashes of wine on her outfit. He
scowled, signaling a server for napkins, then started carefully
blotting
her clothes “Are you alright?
Did she scare you?” he asked softly.
Claire just shook her head and grinned, more amused than anything. She glanced
back at Elvis, who was still busy arguing with Julia.
“Why are you always like this p>
Elvis’s voice rang out. “I’m not
interested, Julia. Wherever I go, you show up. You’re not just persistent, you’re exhausting. Every time you? see me talking to someone, you chase them off. Do you really think that driving away every other girl will somehow make me fall for you p>
