Norris and Phil each wired money to Owen.
“If you need more, just ask.” They said it in perfect unison.

Owen just shook his head. “Fine, you each get ten percent of the shares p>
He figured he might as well treat their money as an investment. No point pretending
he wouldn’t be leaning on his older brothers when things got tough.
Norris couldn’t care less. He wasn’t short on cash, and his whole world revolved around math. Phil cared even less than that—he was loaded, set to inherit the family business someday.
Later that afternoon, Claire finally saw Dane when he came to pick her up at the Churchill house.
When they arrived at The Greens’ place, she checked on Baldrick first—a follow-up appointment. Just like last time, she ended up with a handful of gifts and a big red envelope.
“I hear you won the gold medal in the individual competition, and your team took first too?” Baldrick’s mood was miles better than it had been during the holidays. Maybe Claire’s treatments really were working. He’d made it through the winter without too much pain, and now, with spring, he looked healthier than ever.
“Yep.” Claire didn’t even bother to play humble.
“Incredible. Just like your mom back in the day.” Baldrick’s eyes softened at the mention of Melissa. He remembered the bright, dazzling Ms. Churchill from years ago.
Still, having a daughter like Claire who inherited all her strengths-that had to be comforting.
“I don’t think I’m as good as my mom,” Claire said with a smile.
“Oh?” Baldrick raised a brow, clearly not buying it. “Aren’t kids supposed to outdo their parents these days p>
Claire just grinned. “It’s not that. I’m not planning to make math my whole life, and I definitely don’t have my mom’s scientific obsession p>
Truth was, Melissa’s talent had taken her away from everyone for years. Claire didn’t want to repeat history.
“You could do just as well in medicine,” Baldrick told her, still hopeful. “You’ll save a lot of lives. You and your mom each shine in your own way p>
“Are you ready for the college entrance exams, Claire?” Baldrick had seen enough loss and change in his life to know not to linger in the past. He only brought it up for a moment before moving on.
“I think the exams are going to be
breeze” Claire said confidently.

no way she’d fail.
That was just the kind of self-assuredness she had.
“That’s a relief.” Baldrick nodded. “Dane was top of his class back then. The best of the best p>
Claire smirked. “So, I should be valedictorian too if I want to be worthy of Dane p>
She meant it as a joke, but Baldrick

That one made Claire burst out laughing.
“You’re unbeatable,” she said, giving him a big thumbs-up.
With barely enough time to grab dinner, Claire rushed back to Apex.
Dane drove her to the airport, and on the other end, Edison was there waiting to pick her up.
What really surprised Claire was seeing Jenny by his side.
“Claire!” Edison called, rolling down the window.
Jenny blew her a kiss from the passenger seat.
Claire blinked. “Why are you two here together p>
Then she turned to Jenny. “Did you finish up things with the overseas office p>
Jenny flipped her hair. “Obviously. Who do you think I am? I’ve already picked out our new office too p>
