Chapter 727
Basically, Pandora was willing to use any means necessary, legitimate or otherwise, as long as it kept her granddaughter safe.
“Then I’ll personally call Padgett and invite them to Apex for your Ivy Gala.”
Once Pandora figured it out, she realized this was the best approach.
Seeing that Pandora wanted to handle it personally, Claire obviously wasn’t going to say no.
“Padgett will definitely be thrilled to get a personal invitation from you.”
Pandora thought her granddaughter was being a bit naive.
“Hardly. In Padgett’s eyes, my son was the jerk who ran off with his daughter. He probably holds me just as responsible for my son’s actions.”
“After all these years, our family never gave the Churchill family any kind of explanation. It’s only natural that Padgett doesn’t care for me.”
Claire gave it some thought and realized she was right.
“Should I make the call then?”
“No need. Our two families have never officially met, so we need to show absolute sincerity.”
After breakfast the next day, Pandora called the Churchill family.
Over the phone, she was incredibly genuine, inviting the entire Churchill family to Apex for her granddaughter’s Ivy Gala.
Padgett had originally thought that if they couldn’t make it to Apex, he would just throw a party for Claire once she returned to Cabinda.
Now that Pandora was being so accommodating, he found it hard to refuse.
Pandora also apologized over the phone, explaining that while Edison had visited the Churchill family previously, she should have paid a visit personally as Agassi’s mother.
“I’m sorry we never visited before. We simply had too many concerns.”
“You have to understand, Claire is Agassi and Melissa’s only daughter. The two of them disappeared under completely mysterious circumstances.”
“I was worried that exposing the connection between our two families might put Claire in danger.”
“That was just my selfish desire as a grandmother.”
“I know it might not have been fair to all of you…”
Pandora explained the whole situation, and knowing she was only thinking of the child’s safety, Padgett had no reason to complain.
“Since it’s all for the kid’s sake, I completely understand. It’s just…”
Hearing Pandora’s analysis actually gave Padgett some reservations.
“Going by what you said, what if our presence in Apex causes someone to target Claire?”
Padgett was worried about being a liability.
He could easily hire bodyguards for Claire, but the girl was the top scorer on her exams and had ever
participated in some international competition.
She was already in the public eye.
He was just afraid that the people approaching her would use all sorts of it impossible to defend against them alf.

“Claire said that after all this time, we need to make a move.”
Pandora relayed that this was Claire’s idea.
“Maybe my way of thinking is too conservative, but she does make a fair point.”
“She isn’t afraid of trouble. She just
hopes that before we pass away we can finally get some news about her parents.”
That struck a chord right in Padgett’s heart.
He wanted news of his daughter too, even if it was terrible news.
Anything was better than the current uncertainty.
“Since it’s Claire’s decision, we’ll respect her wishes.”
“I will be there.”
Padgett had spent the last few years enjoying his retirement in Cabinda, rarely traveling out of state.
But this situation was completely different.
How could he possibly miss his granddaughter’s Ivy Gala?
As soon as he hung up with Pandora, he ordered everyone in the house to get
moving.
The graduation gifts for his granddaughter had been ready for ages.
But for the trip to Apex, he first needed to ask who in the family was willing to go.
Norris stated that he would go with Padgett.
“I’m on vacation right now, so it’s the perfect time to join you.”
