Chapter 1178
He turned his head and gently bit her palm. It didn’t hurt, but the sensation made her fingers tremble.
Then, his tongue slowly swept across her skin. His eyes were heavy with
overwhelming possessiveness, his voice muffled against her hand. “I only dare to think about it.”
He would never admit how many times he had fantasized about it.
He just didn’t have the courage to actually do it.
His scorching breath brushed against her palm like a feather, over and over.
Sparks of electricity hummed under her skin.
Noreen pulled her hand back, looking up at him. “So, you’re not mad anymore, right?”
“Are you trying to soothe me?” Seth asked.
Noreen nodded. “Yes.”
Seth hoisted her effortlessly onto the kitchen counter. “Then you need to soothe me properly.”
The next second, he crushed his lips against hers. The kiss was deep, frantic, and punishing, only to melt into something unbearably tender the moment she yielded to him.
His elbow knocked over a spatula. It clattered loudly against the stove, but neither of them flinched.
The cramped kitchen was burning up with their combined heat.
Seth pulled back just a fraction, his breathing ragged.
He brushed his thumb across the corner of her mouth, his voice low, raspy, and laced with a smile. “To the bed?”
Noreen didn’t answer with words. Instead, she threw her arms around his neck, pulling him down with a fierce, unapologetic demand.
Her legs wrapped securely around his waist, clinging to him, her eyes shining brilliantly.
That night, Seth was anything but gentle.
But right at the very end, he abandoned a flushed, breathless Noreen on the bed
and sprinted into the bathroom to take a freezing cold shower.
Noreen was still reeling, her mind fuzzy, her hands gripping the ruined bedsheets in utter bewilderment.
That jerk!
So he really was just going to hold back!
…
The next day, Claire Chase brought soup to Winrich. The moment she stepped into the office, she heard Noreen chewing out a department manager.
She was furious.
Seeing Claire, Noreen dialed it back just enough to dismiss the shell-shocked employees back to their desks.
“Well, aren’t we commanding today,
Director Gilmore,” Claire drawled,
setting down the insulated bag. She
reached out and poked the skin under Noreen’s eye. These dark circles… a smokey eye look couldn’t even achieve this level of natural disaster.”
Noreen swatted her hand away, massaging her temples. “Stop it.”
Claire smirked, her eyes glinting with mischief. “You’ve got a seriously
short fase today. It’s ne
someone didn’t find his release last night.”
Noreen was speechless.
“If this keeps up, you guys are going to cause some permanent damage.”
Who could actually hold back when things got that heated in bed?
As Noreen sipped her soup, Claire brought up the incident with Seth’s injured finger.
Once Noreen confirmed it, Claire
scoffed in utter disgust. “That is textbook mistress behavior! A total cheap shot! That is some top-tier manipulative garbage. Did he take notes from Madeline the Third?”
She was referring to Madeline Lynwood.
Noreen nearly choked on her soup.
And she couldn’t find a single argument to defend him.
Noreen was frustrated from the lack of intimacy, but Seth wasn’t faring any better.
They were both drowning in sexual tension.
But the most miserable person of all was Jude.
He genuinely believed that by helping Seth sabotage Dylan’s plans, he was finally going to get his dream vacation.
So he bounced into Seth’s office first thing in the morning, ready to claim his reward.
Only for Seth to flat-out reject him.
“Why?! You promised me!”
Jude shrieked in agony.
“You didn’t trash the office yourself. It doesn’t count.”
Jude stared at him.
You ruthless bastard!
“Did you guys not make up yesterday or something?” Jude demanded, bitter and indignant.
Noreen had literally abandoned Dylan’s invitation to go running to him.
Logically, they should have been all over each other, basking in the afterglow.
Seth kept his head buried in his paperwork, not even bothering to look up. “We were never fighting.”
