Chapter 1179
Like hell!
When Seth wasn’t looking, Jude rolled his eyes. “I don’t know who it was, but somebody’s voice completely cracked on the phone yesterday.”
Seth’s expression didn’t change. “You wouldn’t understand. She kept it from me because she cares about me.”
Jude was dumbfounded.
He had successfully brainwashed himself into feeling better?
Romance?
Not even a dog would want this kind of relationship!
He was never falling in love!
“Bring me that other stack of files,” Seth ordered, finishing the paperwork in front of him.
Jude scrambled to grab the documents.
Before he could even drop them on the desk, Seth snapped, “Stack them perfectly straight!”
Jude froze.
He had already straightened them perfectly before walking in!
Honestly, Seth’s OCD had morphed into an absolute nightmare lately.
So Jude cautiously asked, “Seth, maybe you should go see Jordan for a follow-up.”
“Haven’t you noticed your OCD has become borderline psychotic lately?”
He literally couldn’t handle it if the ridges on a plastic water bottle didn’t line up perfectly.
Lantern Festival.
Noreen was scheduled to attend the Eastvale Corporation reception.
When Sophia Cole brought her gown, Noreen was buried in work.
She didn’t try it on, just told Sophia to hang it in the lounge.
As soon as Sophia hung it up, her phone buzzed with a message from Seth, asking what dress Noreen was wearing tonight.
Sophia snapped a picture and sent it to him.
Seth replied: “It’s ugly. Change it.”
Sophia stared at the dress on the hanger. It looked stunning to her.
It was a halter-neck, backless design. The exposed back was draped with glittering crystal chains that cascaded from the nape of the neck all the way down to the waist.
If she wore this, she would easily be the most captivating woman in the room.
Yet Seth called it ugly.
Sophia rolled her eyes.
What was wrong with his taste?
When Noreen finally finished her work and went to get dressed, she realized the gown was different from the one she had originally chosen.
When she asked Sophia about it, Sophia nervously stammered that there was a sizing issue with the first one, so they had to make a last-minute swap.
Noreen didn’t think much of it.
She slipped into the dress, got her hair and makeup done, and headed to the Eastvale reception.
The moment she walked into the ballroom, her eyes landed on Seth standing amidst the crowd.
He was talking to someone, the harsh venue lighting chiseling the sharp lines of his profile.
Dressed in a bespoke royal blue velvet suit, he stood out effortlessly in the sea of guests.
Coincidentally, their outfits were perfectly color-coordinated.
As if sensing her presence, he turned his head.
His gaze cut through the glamorous crowd and locked onto her with terrifying precision. His eyes darkened, and a faint, triumphant smirk touched his lips.
Noreen simply raised an eyebrow and calmly looked away, pretending she didn’t feel the predatory weight of his stare. She began greeting th familiar faces around the room.
“Ms. Gilmore,” Silas’s voice sounded from just behind her.
He was holding a glass of champagne, also dressed in a royal blue suit.
His was tailored with a more British cut, the shade a fraction lighter hers and Seth’s. But under the
ballroom lights, they looked elan
unmistakably like a matching sết.
Noreen stopped and offered a polite nod. “Silas.”
Silas gave a warm smile. “That color looks stunning on you.”
Before he could say more, a familiar executive joined the conversation, his eyes
darting between Noreen and Silas with teasing curiosity.
“You two look like you’re wearing matching couple’s outfits.”
Silas’s smile deepened.
Noreen casually swirled the champagne in her glass, her tone flat but carrying an undeniable, icy distance. “You’re joking, CEO Reed. It’s just a coincidence that we both appreciate the color.” Content”
She mercilessly severed any implied connection to Silas.
Silas’s gaze turned somber.
Noreen immediately turned to greet other guests, not lingering for another second.
