For example, Lily Lowell just helped herself to the sunscreen!

Yet Macy Wade urged her to be the bigger person and let it go.

So what if Lily forgot to buy sunscreen and borrowed some?

Priscilla Hastings came from a good family and didn’t care about a single bottle of lotion.

Besides, she had bought two bottles, so sharing with Lily didn’t seem like a big deal.

That was all well and good, but the item belonged to Priscilla.

If she wanted to share, fine.

But if she didn’t, what gave Macy the right to be generous with someone else’s property?

Priscilla complained to Claire as they walked.

“If I’m this miserable, I’m moving out next year.”

“Or I’ll just request a room transfer.”

Claire tried to soothe her.

Priscilla was mostly just venting; it wouldn’t be easy for her to actually pack up and leave.

“What about your dorm?”

“I heard you’re in a mixed room. Are your roommates even harder to deal with?”

Claire shook her head. “No, one of them is a friend I made at winter camp.”

“Out of the other two, one is super outgoing and sweet, and the other might have a bit of a princess complex, but she’s got a good heart.”

Hearing that made Priscilla a little jealous.

“You used to be the heiress of The James Family, and I always felt on edge around you.”

“But now that we’re older, I actually prefer your personality.”

“I can totally be myself around you, and it’s not exhausting at all.”

Priscilla was genuinely envious of Claire and secretly wished they could be

roommates.

Claire smiled. “I never thought I was hard to get along with. That was all in your heads!”

“I’ve just always been myself.”

Back when she was the heiress of The James Family, her friends had fawned over her mostly because of her status.

Plenty of people wanted to get in good with The James Family.

But Claire had always possessed a naturally cool and detached demeanor.

She was never overly affectionate with anyone.

Outsiders thought she was an ice

queen but anyone who actually

Shas

spent time with Claire knew incredibly easygoing.

“Well, I know that now,” Priscilla said, throwing her hands up.

“By the way, are you heading straight back to your dorm when we get to campus? Mind if I come hang out for a bit?”

Classes hadn’t officially started yet, and it was too early to go back to her own room just to sleep.

“We probably won’t be in the room. My roommate got scammed, and we have to go track someone down…”

Claire explained the whole situation from start to finish.

Priscilla rolled up her sleeves immediately. “There’s strength in numbers. I’m coming with you!”

She was absolutely here for the drama!

Claire hesitated. Lex Grant’s

situation wasn’t a heavily guarded secret, but parading a bunch of

people over to spectate felt alittle inappropriate

She messaged her group chat, asking if they minded her bringing a friend along to confront the senior student.

No one objected. In fact, they agreed with Priscilla’s logic-the more, the merrier.

Meanwhile, Gavin Hayes, who had promised to give the freshman girls an explanation, rushed back to his dorm room.

His roommates were scattered around doing their own

thingsg typing upess

and scrolling on their phones.

No one bothered to look up when Gavin walked in.

It was just another typical afternoon.

That was until Gavin cleared his throat. “Hey, I need to talk to you guys about something.”

Seeing his serious expression, the immediate response was, “Did you and your girlfriend break up?”

It was a fair question. Gavin didn’t have much money, and his vacations were always strictly budget-friendly.

It wouldn’t be a shock if a girl finally got fed up and left him.

“No, give me some credit!”

“Did you win the lottery?” another roommate joked.
