To protect students’ futures, standard disciplinary marks were often cleared right before graduation.

That was unless Quinton showed zero remorse and continued to underperform.

If he kept failing his classes, for instance, the university would have no reason to wipe the slate clean.

But if someone made it into The Cabinda University and still didn’t appreciate the opportunity, they were truly a lost cause.

“Mr. Landry, he doesn’t look particularly sorry to me. Maybe you two need another minute to chat?”

“Honestly, letting the police handle it is probably for the best. It’ll prevent any messy disputes later.”

Claire’s words were a blatant, unapologetic threat.

Mr. Landry heard the underlying message loud and clear.

Quinton, however, did not.

He thought Claire was just being greedy and pushing her luck.

“I just delayed paying you by a few days! I never said I wasn’t going to pay! Stop being so dramatic!”

“You didn’t lose anything! My cash is just tied up in stocks right now, and I’ll pay you back double!”

Did they really have nothing better to do than hand the cops an easy arrest quota?

“So the disciplinary mark isn’t necessary, right?”

Mr. Landry wanted to strangle Quinton. Was the boy an absolute idiot?

At a time like this, he was actually trying to negotiate his way out of a disciplinary mark? What on earth was going through his head?

“Mr. Landry, I don’t think a private settlement is going to work. He clearly hasn’t grasped the severity of what he’s done.”

“He probably thinks he’s running a charity right now.”

Claire’s expression turned icy.

Mr. Landry knew he wasn’t going to win an argument against this girl.

He turned his frustration entirely onto Quinton. “What is wrong with you? Did you consult them before you gambled away their hard-earned money?”

“And your roommate, Gavin, almost took the fall for your crime! You honestly think you shouldn’t be penalized? Do you seriously believe you did nothing wrong?”

“Quinton, if you can’t even recognize your own mistakes, then I am wasting my breath.”

A permanent criminal record was exactly what he deserved!

Seeing his counselor explode in anger inton panicked and

frantically apologized. “Mrt annet

didn’t mean it like that.”

“I…”

He looked desperately at Lex. “You’re the one who did the job, right?”

“I really didn’t mean to steal from you. All my cash is just locked up in the market.”

“As soon as I break even, I’ll pay you double immediately.”

“Please, just let it go this one time!”

“Just consider it an investment in my portfolio, okay?”

Lex hadn’t even processed his ridiculous logic before Claire let out a sharp laugh.

“You talk like you’re some Wall

Street genius. With the way you

trade your portfolio will probabl

crash to zero by the time the market opens tomorrow!” fo FindNovel.net

“What are you going to pay her back with then?”

“Are you going to sell yourself on the street?”

Claire wasn’t even trying to be vicious; Quinton was just genuinely pathetic.

Quinton’s face flushed an ugly shade of red. He absolutely despised it when people insulted his trading skills.

He had lost a fortune, but he firmly believed that one day he would be a stock market legend!

As a finance major, having his skills mocked was unbearable.

Secretly, Mr. Landry also had severe doubts about Quinton’s ability to turn a profit.

“Here is what’s going to happen, Quinton. Tomorrow morning, regardless of whether you’re taking.

a loss, you are selling those stocks and paying them back.”

“If you refuse to do so, I will have no choice but to contact your parents.”

The threat of calling his parents made the blood drain from Quinton’s face.

His family had no idea he was playing the market with other people’s money.

If his father found out, he would literally beat him half to death.

Quinton was the golden child of the family. They would never be able to handle the shame of him getting arrested at school.

“Mr. Landry, I’ll do it! I’ll find a way to pay them back!”

“I’ll accept the disciplinary mark, just please, be the bigger person and let me off this once!”

Quinton had finally realized he had to submit.
