Chapter 1211

[ 534 words ]

The hint was obvious enough.

Noah hoped Arthur wouldn’t do anything unnecessary.

“I know,” Arthur said. He was a bit more sensible than Noah had expected.

He certainly wouldn’t do anything reckless to Claire.

But if Noah really liked Claire, it wouldn’t be impossible to win her back.

“Good.” He really had nothing left to say to his grandfather.

Seeing Noah’s impatience, Arthur decided to stop beating around the bush.

“Noah, what are your thoughts on Harrison’s will?”

Noah scoffed inwardly. So, this was the real reason Arthur had sought him out. Harrison’s will had left the lion’s share of the valuable assets to Noah.

It would be a miracle if the Darwin family wasn’t coveting it.

But Noah hadn’t expected Arthur to be the first one to approach him, rather than Silas or the others.

“I don’t have any thoughts. They were Harrison’s belongings, and he could give them to whoever he pleased.”

Arthur frowned. “He gave all the valuable things to you.”

“But you should know that wealth invites trouble.”

“Silas and Lydia aren’t exactly good-tempered. They are obviously furious that our branch of the family received so much.”

“The three of us used to get along well enough, but this will might just tear us apart.” Arthur was trying to appeal to his emotions and reason with him.

Plus, knowing Noah wanted nothing to do with the Darwins, Arthur believed he could persuade him to hand the assets over.

Unfortunately, he underestimated Noah and overestimated his own standing in the young man’s eyes.

“You were going to fall out sooner or later. What does the timeline matter?”

Noah’s bluntness choked Arthur.

The kid was infuriating.

How could he speak like that?

“We used to have a decent

relationship. I just don’t know what

Harrison was thinking, giving us

SO

much alkat once:

“It’s not the dark ages anymore, where the eldest grandson automatically inherits more.”

Noah chuckled coldly. “My share is Harrison’s way of compensating my grandmother. Logically, that compensation should have come from you.”

“But you were too useless for that, weren’t you?”

“At your age, you still needed Harrison to clean up your messes.”

Arthur clenched his jaw.

The boy had absolutely no respect!

If his wife hadn’t given him a strict ultimatum, he wouldn’t have bothered seeking Noah out at all.

“I know. I wronged your grandmother.”

“But I had no choice. We were just born in the wrong era.”

“If it weren’t for that whole relocation to the countryside…”

“Enough,” Noah snapped, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.

He knew Arthur always viewed his grandmother as a mistake, even a disgrace.

Of course. Why would a privileged kid from Cabinda ever fall for a country girl?

He only did it out of desperation because he couldn’t handle the manual labor out there.

It was only because that country girl

had several brothers who could

should workload and grantee him a hot meal,

If it weren’t for her being too eager and relentless…

According to Arthur, every mistake was always someone else’s fault.

He had merely made a mistake any man would make.

In his twisted mind, that basically meant he did nothing wrong!

“You want those antiques, don’t you?”

Arthur did want them. He just hadn’t expected Noah to read him so easily before he even asked.

Was it because they shared the same blood?

Unfortunately, Noah’s next words shattered his hopes.

“Sorry. I’ve already decided to donate all those antiques to the museum.”
