Chapter 1570
[ 600 words ]
The nurse peeked out the door to assess the situation and noticed Claire’s fiancé was still standing guard, but Stephen, the police captain, was gone.
They still had a window to escape!
They waited inside for nearly an hour before the nurse finally opened the door.
She and a masked male nurse wheeled the hospital bed out together.
The shepherd was lying flat on the bed.
“Was the resuscitation successful?” Dane asked, glancing into the emergency room.
“Yes, but Claire exhausted herself and is resting inside.”
“We’re going to transfer the patient back to the ward first.”
The nurse lied without batting an eyelash.
Dane nodded and didn’t press further.
“I’ll help you.”
Jace suddenly appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the edge of the bed.
The two nurses exchanged a quick look before the female nurse smiled. “Thank you. Aren’t you going to wait here for Claire?”
“Claire seemed pretty drained. I think she might need a sugar rush.”
“You’d better go grab her a coffee or something first.”
“There’s a great spot right across from the hospital. I absolutely love their Taro Boba Tea. What does Claire like?”
The nurse kept chatting effortlessly with Jace as they stepped into the elevator.
They rode down to the third floor.
To reach the inpatient ward, they had to transfer to a different elevator on the third floor.
The nurse kept talking, expertly diverting Jace’s attention.
The second Jace casually turned his head, the male nurse whipped out a rag
soaked in ether and clamped it hard over Jace’s mouth.
Before he could even thrash, Jace slumped heavily to the floor.
“This is the terrifying bodyguard Quinton Graves warned us about?”
How could someone that weak be so highly rated?
The male nurse couldn’t quite believe it.
Had he accidentally used an overkill dose of ether?
“He probably just had his guard totally down,” the female nurse said, equally puzzled.
Neither of them was Quinton Graves, so they didn’t truly grasp what they were up against.
They were just last-minute recruits who hadn’t even been fully briefed on the mission.
With Jace down, the male nurse quickly hogtied him and dragged him out the emergency stairwell door next to the elevator.
Conveniently, there was a massive trash can right there, making for an easy dumping spot.
Following in Claire’s footsteps, Jace found himself unceremoniously tossed into the trash.
The crew then grabbed Claire, hopped into the next elevator, and rode it straight down to basement level two.
Quinton Graves and his team were waiting for them there.
But the exact second the stairwell door
shut, Jace snapped his
bindings, bolted out of the trash, and tore down the stairs .net>
He moved with blinding speed, not even bothering with the steps, just smoothly over the railings
vaultin
and dropping floor by floor wit lethal grace.
It was a terrifying display of Jace’s true physical dominance.
Seeing the elevator indicator stop at basement level two, Jace mirrored the descent and dropped into the garage.
“We finally made it out!”
The two nurses sighed in massive relief, and the shepherd on the bed was
practically vibrating with excitement.
He had thought the Montara police
and were untouchable, yet
they had pulled off the extraction with effortless ease. .net>
The three of them were already fantasizing about how they were going to blow their massive payout.
They didn’t stop for a single second to question why it had been so ridiculously easy.
“We’re here. Where are your guys?”
The nurse dialed Quinton Graves.
“Put her in the Black Sedan parked a hundred feet ahead of you.”
“Throw her in the trunk.”
The voice on the line calmly directed their next move.
The nurse immediately complied.
They easily spotted the Black Sedan.
They loaded Claire into the trunk.
“Follow the car out of the garage and stick exactly to the route I give you.”
Quinton Graves rapidly fired off his next set of instructions.
