Chapter 1687
[ 649 words ]
“Alright, you think I don’t have top-tier goods?”
“Just you wait!”
Flora wasn’t one to back down from a challenge.
She actually did have fresh inventory, though he was currently refusing to cooperate.
She had originally planned to break him in for a bit longer before putting him to work.
But it looked like she had to accelerate the timeline.
“How much are you willing to spend?”
Flora pulled up a photo of the new guy. There was no face shown, just a silhouette shot.
Even from the shadow, it was obvious the man had a phenomenal physique with sleek, defined muscle lines.
“Why do you only have these sketchy shadow pictures? Are you trying to scam me?”
Rory was clearly still unimpressed.
“If he has a great body but a face like a toad, am I playing with him, or is he playing a joke on me?”
“I’m not looking to get ripped off!”
Rory’s relentless pickiness made Flora want to punch her.
But adhering to the golden rule of sales-the pickiest customers are the ones most likely to buy-Flora doubled down.
“I guarantee his face isn’t ugly. He’s got that rugged, tough-guy look.”
Rory raised an eyebrow. “Your guarantee means nothing. What if our tastes are completely different?”
“After all, everything you’ve shown me so far has been aggressively mediocre.” Rory wasn’t lying.
No matter how good-looking the previous recommendations were supposed to be, none of them caught her eye.
The guys from back home were one thing, but the local Kaston men she had been shown made Rory feel like she was being subjected to a cruel joke.
“You!”
“Fine. If you put down a deposit, I’ll have him brought here, and you can inspect the goods in person. Deal?” Flora tried to goad Rory into paying up.
But Rory wasn’t that easy.
“No way. What if you just take the deposit and bolt?”
“Or what if you bring me some weak loser and try to force a sale?”
Flora gritted her teeth, glaring at Rory. “Doing business with our own people is always the absolute worst.”
Rory laughed. “You say that like you weren’t one of us originally.”
“Since we’re compatriots, you should know that we always shop around before buying.”
“I didn’t ask you to shop around. Just showing you the photo is generous enough.”
Flora scoffed. “What’s there to compare? My merchandise is the absolute best.”
“You won’t find better quality anywhere in this district.”
“Stop running your mouth and show me a real picture,” Rory demanded, completely unfazed.
A real picture?
It wasn’t like she didn’t have one!
However, the guy’s face had been covered in blood at the time, so she only snapped one quick shot. She hadn’t managed to get any clean photos afterward because the brat refused to cooperate.
The result of his lack of cooperation was a blurry, unappealing photograph.
“Listen, this photo is a bit intense, but for someone with your… hardcore tastes, it
might be exactly what you’re looking for.”
Flora’s words were heavy with implication.
She pulled up the photo and held it out for Rory to see.
Rory snatched the phone right out of
her hand and called out to Claire,
“Lily, come look at this This This one not bad. He’s got that wild, untamed vibe.”
“Flora, you didn’t beat him broken, did you?” Rory questioned, calling Claire over
while simultaneously interrogating the madam.
Flora was so flustered she didn’t even have time to complain about Rory snatching her phone.
Claire knew Rory never did anything without a reason.
As soon as she leaned in, she realized they had seen the man in the photo before.
It was the operative who had been deployed alongside Silas.
His face was smeared with blood. Although his features were discernible, it was pamfully
the man had been severe
Claire’s brow furrowed.
Flora immediately went on the defensive. “We didn’t cause those injuries!”
“He got hurt on his own and dragged himself onto my turf.”
“Since he’s using my territory to hide out and can’t pay his way, he naturally has to earn his keep!”
“Hold on a second, you two are sharing a room. Are you really only ordering one
guy?”
