Chapter 1750

If they had been thrown into the exact same high-pressure scenario as Tandy and Claire, they likely wouldn’t have done nearly as well.
“You two did an exceptional job. Even in my prime, I’m not sure I could match Tandy’s level of execution.”
As for Claire, her hands-on skills were phenomenal. She only lacked a bit of sheer clinical experience, but her reflexes were lightyears ahead of most seasoned
surgeons.
Not to mention, Claire’s ability to adapt on the fly was unparalleled.
Mary looked deeply proud. “You’re going to be the most formidable surgical expert of your generation, Claire.”
Receiving Mary’s praise filled Claire with an immense sense of fulfillment.
Even though her first mentor, Hale, was no longer with her, Mary remained her guiding light in the medical world.
Having someone like her around meant Claire had someone to share her victories with.
Mary was the living witness to the path Claire had walked.
“I’ll keep working hard, Mary.”
Claire didn’t let a sliver of success go to her head.
She knew she still had a long way to go.
“Good.” Mary reached out and affectionately ruffled Claire’s hair.
They couldn’t stay in the ICU for long. Silas was still sleeping, and it wouldn’t be good to wake him.
Tilda walked them to the door and immediately tried to set up a dinner date.
“Let’s grab dinner tonight! I’ll officially welcome Mary to Cabinda. How does that sound?”
Claire was about to decline, knowing Mary wasn’t a fan of social obligations.
“Don’t turn me down just yet. I’m a local, so I know all the absolute best hidden spots.”
Tilda winked at Claire.
“I heard your last trip to the food street was a total disaster. Tonight, I’m taking you and Mary somewhere truly special!”
Claire’s eyes darted to Tilda’s baby bump. “You’re heavily pregnant. If you just go out eating at random places, won’t both your families freak out?”
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to eat with Tilda; she was just worried about potential risks to the baby.
“I’m not made of glass!”
Tilda waved off the concern completely.
She was usually very careful, but going out for dinner was perfectly safe.
She had been eating at this specific restaurant since she was a little girl.
If you weren’t a local, you wouldn’t even know it existed.
Just then, Dane’s name flashed on Claire’s phone.
Claire had mentioned to Dane earlier that Mary was coming to Cabinda and that her schedule was going to be packed.
She had basically been telling him to back off because she wouldn’t have time for dates.
But Dane figured that since her grandmother was in town, he absolutely had to show his face.
As the official fiancé, wasn’t it his duty to host Mary?
He was calling to say he was organizing dinner.
“Bad timing. Tilda just invited us to
Claire said, surprised Dane
was suddenly playing the host
without warning.
“Do you think Tilda would mind adding one more to the reservation?” Dane asked with a low chuckle.
“Tell Dane to join us!” Before Claire could even relay the message, Tilda chimed in loudly from the side.
Alright then. She didn’t even need to mediate; they had sorted it out themselves.
Tilda stayed behind with Silas while Claire and Mary headed out.
Just as Claire was about to take Mary to see Lucas Charles, she spotted Evie Grant, Walking right beside her was a highly elegant, middle-aged woman.
“You really shouldn’t have come. Is your ankle feeling better?”
“If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have sprained it in the first place.”
“Did Quentin force you to come here?”
“He’s completely bewitched by his dance partner. She brought a random medical student to see him, and he actually believes that student can help him recover.”
“You have to talk some sense into him!”
