Chapter 1811
[ 592 words ]
“I might not be her boyfriend yet, but I will be soon…”
Julian purposefully spun their relationship to sound as ambiguous as possible.
He shot Fannie a warning glare, silently demanding she play along.
Fannie knew exactly how petty and vindictive he was. Dealing with such a psychotic boss was exhausting, and she was entirely done serving him.
Ignoring the crowd around them, and the fact that several executives had just stepped out of their private room, she shouted her rebuttal right in his face.
“No, we aren’t! We strictly have a professional relationship.”
“Please stop implying things that aren’t true in front of the person I like!”
“It makes me incredibly uncomfortable!”
Julian was stunned.
The executives who had walked out of the room also exchanged awkward glances.
They hadn’t expected Julian to be the kind of creep who tried to force his subordinates into dating him.
Especially when the girl clearly had feelings for someone else.
Fannie’s outburst left Julian completely humiliated, and he hated her for it.
But because she was hiding behind Norris, there was absolutely nothing he could do.
Throwing out empty threats would only make him look more pathetic.
So, Julian gritted his teeth and forced a stiff smile. “Fannie and I had a bit of a disagreement a few days ago, and she’s still throwing a tantrum.”
“Fannie, if you don’t want me to take you home tonight, fine.”
“But you can’t just pretend we have nothing going on just because you’re mad at me.”
“I know your old college friend is better looking than I am. If you think using him to make me jealous is going to work, then congratulations, it did.”
“Sorry, it’s getting late. I’ll be going now.”
“I’ll have to trouble you to take her home, Professor.”
“Sorry for wasting your time. I’ll make sure Fannie and I treat you to dinner soon to make up for it.”
That absolute bastard knew Fannie was too drunk to speak clearly and was deliberately misleading everyone.
He turned and walked away before she even had a chance to defend herself.
Though he was gone, Fannie’s eyes were red with fury.
Claire quickly stepped in to comfort her. “Don’t worry, Fannie. None of us believed a word he said.”
“He clearly isn’t a good person. He was just making things up.”
“He’s trying to corner you and force you to be with him, isn’t he?”

Fannie had reached the exact conclusion. Julian was so shameless that she couldn’t
stomach the thought of staying at her job a second longer
She could reject him, but she couldn’t stop him from making her professional life a living hell.
Finding a new job wasn’t something she could do overnight.
Julian’s family held significant power in the media industry.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare act this arrogantly.
“This Julian guy… let’s not talk about him right now. Thank you both for helping me out just now.”
“It’s nothing,” Norris replied, his words as sparse as ever.
When Claire suggested they take Fannie home, Norris didn’t object.
Honoria, watching them leave together, wanted to interject again but was quickly stopped by Mr. Winthrop.
“Honoria.”
The moment he called her name, she had no choice but to shut her mouth.
After the others had left, Mr. Winthrop gave her a stern talking-to.
He strongly believed she had spoken entirely out of turn.
“I know you like Norris, but acting like that makes you look terribly classless.”
“And I don’t believe for a second that
Slike you couldn’t tell that
guy was Tying through his teeth.”
“That journalist was clearly using them to e escape a creep. Were you into the
trying to throw her straet
tiger’s den?”
His words carried a heavy weight.
Honoria’s face drained of color. “That’s not it at all, Uncle Winthrop. Please don’t
misunderstand.”
