Chapter 1818
[ 631 words ]
“I won’t do that, and I can’t,” Fannie shook her head.
It was true she liked Norris, but he had never focused his attention on her.
He had only helped her yesterday out of a sense of duty toward an old schoolmate and sheer disgust for a predator.
It didn’t mean he harbored any romantic feelings for her.
Therefore, she refused to shamelessly beg him for more.
Furthermore, she had noticed the way Julian had stared at Claire with such violating
eyes.
That was the real reason Norris had lost his temper.
“You’re just too stubborn. If I had your connections, I’d definitely use them,” Tessa argued, clearly disapproving of Fannie’s pride.
But Fannie had her own principles.
Meanwhile, lying in a hospital bed, Julian was furiously making phone calls, demanding his people find out who had attacked him. He was desperate for revenge.
Unfortunately, his investigation turned up absolutely nothing.
He had purposely hidden in the security cameras’ blind spots, meaning the footage captured absolutely nothing of his assault.
The man and woman who beat him clearly knew how to avoid the cameras better than he did. They vanished from the complex without a trace.
The Quincy family hit a dead end, entirely unable to avenge their son.
To make matters worse, they were suddenly besieged by attacks from corporate rivals.
The reason was simple: Fannie had finally pulled the trigger.
The moment she booked her flight, she formally submitted her whistleblower report.
She had also backed up the evidence, preparing three separate contingencies. With the files submitted, Julian was guaranteed to lose his position as Editor-in- Chief.
If he didn’t cooperate, he was looking at serious jail time.
The Quincy family desperately leveraged their network to find the rat, but soon enough, Mr. Quincy Senior found himself drowning in his own scandals.
Even Julian’s older brother and sister were placed under investigation.
The family had engaged in countless shady dealings, and all their illegal, off-the- books assets were dragged into the light.
Mr. Quincy Senior was arrested, and Julian’s mother was suspended from her job.
His older brother was currently under investigation and likely facing prison time. His sister managed to avoid legal trouble but her in-laws were currently screaming at their son to divorce her.
Overnight, the Quincy family became absolute pariahs.
The takedown happened so fast that Julian hadn’t even been discharged from the hospital.
He hadn’t found his attackers, and now he didn’t need to.
His family was drowning in problems far more severe than a street beating.
Currently, the only person who had escaped the law was his sister.
His mother hadn’t been arrested yet, but it all depended on what his father confessed to while in custody.
Oh, and his sister-in-law had already filed for divorce from his brother.
Julian had no idea how his family had imploded so spectacularly.
It felt like everything had started falling apart the exact night he crossed Fannie!
He wasn’t a complete idiot. The
Pnet
moment he pieced it together, he rushed to the office, only to find Fannie gone.
“Where the hell is she?” he snarled, grabbing a former subordinate by the collar.
The subordinate honestly felt Julian getting fired was the best thing that had ever happened to the company.
Seeing Julian screaming in his face, he decided to deliver the killing blow. “She already left the country. Sp transferred to become a ware correspondent.”
Julian’s face drained of color. “When did she leave?”
“Three days ago.” The subordinate only knew because Tessa had casually mentioned it.
Fannie had cleared out her desk five days ago and flown out three days ago.
That perfectly aligned with the exact moment the Quincy family began burning to the ground!
Julian was absolutely certain she was behind it!
“That absolute bitch!”
He hissed the words through gritted teeth.
The subordinate stared at him, utterly disgusted by his lack of basic decency.
She left because you forced her out!
You crashed and burned trying to ruin her, and now you have the nerve to curse her
out?
