Chapter 1819
[ 576 words ]
The former subordinate had zero desire to continue talking to Julian, seeing as the man was no longer his boss anyway.
“If you don’t need anything else, I’m heading out. My shift is over.”
Julian’s blood boiled.
Just a few days ago, he could have forced this worthless dog to his knees begging
for mercy.
But not anymore.
He shot the subordinate a venomous glare. “Get out of here.”
The man’s heart skipped a beat. He cursed his terrible luck for running into Julian.
He only blamed himself for being too openly thrilled about the downfall and letting his guard down.
After the subordinate fled, Julian tracked down his former boss.
They had always been partners in crime.
Now that Julian was fired, the boss was barely clinging to his own job, having been demoted from running the entire department to managing logistics.
The only reason he hadn’t been fired outright was his deep family connections.
Sitting in his former boss’s office, Julian was practically vibrating with rage.
“Fannie’s family lives in Cabinda, right?”
“She might have run off, but her family can’t! I refuse to believe she doesn’t have a single relative left in this city!”
The boss shot him a cold glare. “You still want to go after her family? Did you completely miss how ruthless this woman is?”
“She’s an investigative journalist. She meticulously planned this execution.”
“Otherwise, she wouldn’t have gathered such flawless evidence.”
“The second she stepped on that plane, the files were submitted. She definitely had someone powerful pushing this from the shadows.”
“Whoever it is, they are protecting her. Going after her family now would be wildly suicidal.”
If Julian wasn’t careful, he’d be throwing himself straight into a prison cell.
The boss absolutely refused to be dragged down by this idiot.
“I checked her background before! She comes from a completely average family.”
“What kind of secret connections could she possibly have?”
The boss actually rolled his eyes, silently cursing the moron in front of him.
“Did you forget she’s a Cabinda native? She grew up in this city. Is it really impossible that she knows a few powerful people?”
“They might not help her with her
daily life, but when push comesnet
shove, they can drop the hammer Gontent
Hearing that, Julian suddenly remembered a specific face. “Do you know a professor from The Cabinda University?” “He’s incredibly young and arguably pretty good-looking.”
“Last year, he led a team to an international math competition and made headlines when they brought back gold medals content belongs
Besides him, Julian literally couldn’t think of anyone else.
Fannie was deeply in love with the guy.
And Julian was violently jealous of him.
It wasn’t just about Fannie. This professor was the living embodiment of perfection.
Great looks, flawless education, a prestigious job, and constantly surrounded by admirers.
Standing next to him made Julian feel like a rotting rat in a sewer.
Because of that, he viciously hated anyone who lived effortlessly in the spotlight!
“A professor?”
“What’s his name?” The boss felt like he had heard the story before.
His network was vastly superior to Julian’s.
“Norris something?”
Julian genuinely couldn’t remember.
His brain was mostly filled with garbage anyway.
A spark of realization hit the boss. “Are you talking about Norris Churchill?”
“Yes! That’s it. Do you know him?”
A sickening dread washed over Julian.
He had assumed he was just dealing with some broke, arrogant teacher.
Since Fannie preferred a college
professor over him, he had look net
down on Norris completely
But what if Norris was the one orchestrating his destruction?
“Who the hell is he?”
“His last name is Churchill, and you’re asking who he is?”
The boss looked at Julian as if the man were already a corpse.
