Chapter 1853
[ 539 words ]
“No, of course not. Why would I have a problem with you?”
Valerie widened her eyes, looking the picture of innocence.
But Honoria wasn’t easily fooled. She could tell Valerie was playing dumb.
She had almost fallen for it.
Honoria scoffed internally. This little brat was totally taking an outsider’s side.
Outwardly, she sighed in exaggerated relief. “I’m glad. I was worried you were upset because…”
Honoria trailed off, but Valerie understood exactly what she meant.
“Are you really that into Professor Norris?”
Honoria paused, looking slightly bashful. “Why would you ask that?”
“I’m just curious.”
Valerie explained.
Hearing this, Honoria let out a breath.
“I really do like him. You probably don’t know this, but campus wasn’t the first time I met Norris.”
Oh?
Valerie was surprised.
“When I flew back into the country, Norris helped me out of a tough spot at the airport. I fell for him the moment I saw him. You could call it love at first sight.”
“Oh, so that’s what happened.” Valerie thought to herself, *If he helped you, why are you repaying his kindness with this toxic obsession?*
And the other night, when they had encountered a similar situation, Norris had stepped in to help his junior, yet Honoria had tried to throw the girl to the wolves.
It was incredibly messed up!
Was Norris only allowed to help her, but no other women?
Honestly, Norris was so brilliant and kind, Valerie really liked him too!
She definitely wanted to find a man just like him someday!
Before she could advise her cousin to back off, Claire walked up.
Spotting Valerie talking to Honoria, Claire genuinely didn’t want to go over.
On the outside, Honoria looked elegant and gentle, but her personality was incredibly difficult to deal with.
Combined with her bizarre, relentless obsession with Norris, Claire had zero desire to interact with her.
“Claire.” Valerie saw her approach and suddenly realized she hadn’t managed to get rid of her cousin.
Honoria beat her to the punch, smoothly taking over the dinner plans.
“Claire, you and Valerie are such good friends, and you helped her out. As her cousin, I really want to thank you properly.”
“My uncle is always busy with work, so he entrusted Valerie’s care to me.”
“But I’ve been so swamped lately. When she had that accident, it was all thanks to you.”
“Please, don’t decline. Let me treat you both tonight.”
Since Honoria phrased it like that, turning her down would seem unnecessarily hostile.
And Claire didn’t plan on refusing anyway.
Honoria was the type to find any excuse to latch on.
Reject her this time, and she’d just try again next time.
It was better to see how long she could keep up this charade.
Plus, she could take the opportunity to pass along her cousin’s thoughts.
Hopefully, this teacher would stop harassing Norris.
Rumors were already flying around campus about Honoria chasing the professor.
At first, people thought they were a

Now, people were saying Norris was acting too arrogant for an older
bachelor and that if he weren’t a professor at The Cabinda University, he’d die alone.
The gossip had gotten incredibly nasty.
Norris’s reputation was actively taking a hit.
Some even claimed he was deliberately stringing Honoria along and toying with her feelings.
The rumors were getting entirely out
of hand.
Norris might not care,
but
Claire wasn’t going allow this,
