Chapter 1855
[ 544 words ]
Honoria was clearly a regular here.
She smoothly began introducing the Sundaran dishes to them.
Claire humored her politely, while Valerie remained entirely unfazed.
She felt that Sundaran food was fine for an occasional bite, but eating it regularly was out of the question.
Claire shared the exact same sentiment. She wasn’t particularly interested in Sundaran or Aurelian cuisine.
Still, seeing Honoria pitch it so enthusiastically, Claire politely ate a few bites.
“Is it not to your taste, Claire?” Honoria noticed that despite Claire’s patient listening, she was barely touching her food.
Honoria’s brow furrowed slightly.
Claire smiled and shook her head. “No, I just don’t really prefer raw food.”
To Claire, Sundaran cuisine always felt like style over substance.
No matter how beautifully plated it was, it couldn’t stimulate her palate the way Solenian dishes could.
Aside from the raw dishes, there were definitely other options on the table, but Claire still ate very little.
Valerie wasn’t putting much effort into humoring her either, making the dinner a pretty massive flop.
Honoria offered a tight smile. “It seems I picked the wrong place today. Neither of you seem to like Sundaran food.”
“It’s fine, the flavor of the place you picked is actually quite good,” Claire replied, though her words offered Honoria zero comfort.
“I shouldn’t have made the decision without asking you both first.”
Honoria was making a show of self-reflection, but Claire and Valerie both looked completely indifferent.
Honoria couldn’t help but wonder if she was just wasting her charm on a brick wall.
If she knew what Claire was thinking, she would have gotten her confirmation.
“Claire, do you happen to know if your cousin has anyone he likes?”
As the meal neared its end, Honoria finally couldn’t hold back the question.
Claire looked up at her. “I don’t think so.”
“Really?” Honoria looked thrilled, but also somewhat doubtful.
If Norris didn’t have anyone he liked, why was he completely unmoved by her?
Was she really just not his type?
“Honoria, I’m genuinely curious. What exactly do you like about my cousin?”
Honoria hadn’t expected Claire to ask something so direct.
But she had rehearsed this answer endlessly with her friend Susan.
“He’s incredibly distinguished. It’s perfectly normal that I’d fall for him, isn’t it?”
“It’s not just me. I’m sure plenty of female faculty members like him, probably even some students.”
Claire raised an eyebrow. “Yet I
haven’t seen any other faculty member pursue him the way you do. It feels like the entire campus knows you’re
Easter him. “

Honoria’s smile stiffened. Was this girl accusing her of making her pursuit too public?
Claire wasn’t finished. Seeing Honoria play dumb, she pressed on. “Hasn’t he already explicitly rejected you?”
Honoria’s smile was hanging on by a thread.
“Yet now, campus gossip has painted him as some kind of heartbreaker.”
“As if he somehow betrayed your deep affection.”
“What are your thoughts on that?”
Claire had just taken the gloves off.
Honoria’s expression turned incredibly sour.
She was a faculty member, yet this student was giving her absolutely no respect.
Did she think that just because she was a genius, she could walk all over a teacher?
Having been publicly humiliated by Claire twice now, Honoria was fuming.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Valerie tossed a match onto the powder too. Why won’t you just let the professor go?”
