Chapter 1872
[ 687 words ]
He had originally thought it would be a daughter too. His paternal heart was ready to be melted by a precious little girl.
Who would have thought it would turn out to be a boy?
He clearly looked exactly like a girl!
Looking at Jenny’s belly during her pregnancy, everyone in the village had sworn she was having a daughter.
The James Village didn’t have any preference for boys over girls. If a daughter really didn’t want to marry out, they would just recruit a husband to join their household.
Regardless of whether it was a boy or a girl, they were all children of The James Family.
Edison himself had hoped for a soft, sweet little girl, someone exactly like Claire. Oh, no, she should have been even cuter than Claire.
Because kids were different. Unlike Claire, who had grown up and always kept a certain distance from people.
“Elias is great too. He can protect his mom and me when he grows up,” Claire comforted.
Edison stayed quiet and didn’t accept the money. “Fine, I’ll let him protect you and Jenny when he grows up.”
“But I’ve received your well wishes. You don’t need to send money.”
“You absolutely must accept the money. It’s not for you; it’s for Jenny and the baby.”
Claire wasn’t short on money, and similarly, neither was Edison.
But she and Jenny were good friends, and this money was a blessing between friends.
She believed Jenny wouldn’t refuse it.
Edison understood the moment he heard that.
“Alright, I’ll transfer the money to her when I have a free moment.”
If it were from someone else, Jenny probably wouldn’t accept it, but since it was from Claire, she definitely would.
He really didn’t know what the dynamic was between those two.
Edison had already found out about the little secret those two shared.
He decided to just let them mess around as they pleased.
How old was Claire when she first met Jenny? Yet the two of them had managed to bring SUNNY back to life. He had to admit that Claire was a true member of The James Family; she had business running in her blood.
Of course, that couldn’t have happened without Jenny’s hard work either.
“Sounds good.”
Claire put her phone away. It was time to go handle her discharge paperwork. Staying in the hospital for three days was enough.
If she stayed any longer to recover from shock, the teachers at the school would start looking for her again.
Fortunately, those three days were Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so it didn’t really affect her classes.
She hadn’t mentioned her car accident to anyone else at school, either.
As for Valerie Winthrop, her cousin Honoria Beaumont had come to the hospital to take care of her for a few days.
Honoria kept implying that if Valerie had just fistened to her and not insisted on returning to campus with Claire, the car accident would never have happened.
Even though Valerie explained that it was her spur-of-the-moment decision to have Claire take her home, otherwise the crash wouldn’t have occurred, Honoria still refused
to believe it.
Furthermore, in her eyes, Valerie was completely blameless in this incident. As for Claire…
She was the one driving, so she had to take the blame.
However, when Norris came to the hospital to visit, Honoria suddenly had a completely different story.
Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.
Somehow, Norris ended up arriving at the hospital at the exact same time as Honoria.
“Dane didn’t have time today, so I’m here to handle your paperwork.”
Norris looked at Claire.
On the other side, Honoria put on concerned expression. “Claire, are you sure you want to be discharged so soon? Shouldn’t you stay onder observation for a few more days?”
Her fake concern gave Claire goosebumps.
She had to admit, she was growing to dislike Honoria more and more.
“No, no, I’m bored to death of staying here.” Claire shot Norris a meaningful look as she spoke.
Norris and Claire had excellent chemistry. Understanding exactly what she meant, he immediately stepped into the hospital room with her.
“Honoria, Norris still needs to pack my things, so we won’t keep you from taking care of Valerie.”
Claire shoved Norris into the room and smiled as she waved goodbye to Honoria. “Wait!” Honoria blocked their path.
