Chapter 1882
[ 616 words ]
Xavier was speechless. So these two sisters were already throwing back drinks with their meal?
Jocelyn was genuinely surprised that Seraphina had managed to bring both men back to the private room all by herself.
However, her gaze shifted between Owen and Xavier.
Ultimately, her eyes landed on Xavier.
“Xavier, Owen, please have a seat.”
Jocelyn proactively stood up, pulling out chairs for them both before pouring them each a glass of wine.
“I’m sorry. I was foolish and immature before.”
“Let me toast you both first as an apology, alright?”
Jocelyn had already put away a fair amount of alcohol, and Seraphina’s cheeks were flushed crimson from the drinks.
These two sisters were putting their backs into the drinking-or rather, into the apologizing.
Finally, when Seraphina raised her glass and looked toward Owen, he reached out and clamped a hand over the rim. “That’s enough. Stop drinking.”
“Owen, do you completely look down on me now?” Seraphina tilted her head, gazing at the man who had been the only source of light in her youth.
She had loved Owen so much, but then Jocelyn had declared that she liked him too.
From the time she was little, her parents had drilled it into her head that she had to yield to her sister.
She had to yield in everything, simply because Jocelyn had yielded space to her in the womb.
She didn’t have a choice. Whatever Jocelyn wanted automatically belonged to Jocelyn.
Even a boyfriend.
He was the first person she had ever loved, and the only person she had ever loved.
Because his eyes had always been fixed on her, rather than her bright, outgoing sister.
To Seraphina, that detail alone was enough to make her love him for the rest of her life.
Unfortunately-
“Let me have one more glass. I’m so sorry for everything, Owen.”
Even if Jocelyn claimed she no longer had feelings for him, Seraphina knew she could never be with Owen now.
She could clearly see that she was no longer in his eyes.
Seraphina’s eyes were bloodshot, and she was a hair’s breadth away from breaking down in tears.
On the other side of the table, Jocelyn was clinking glasses with Xavier.
But unlike her sister, Jocelyn was actively trying to get Xavier trashed.
Out of the four people at the table, three were completely wasted.
“I’m driving. I’m not drinking,” Owen stated firmly, rejecting Seraphina’s toast Left with no other option

“I’ll take you home.” Owen still possessed basic chivalry. Without waiti
for her to agree, he stood up
from the table.
“Xavier, should we have a little more?”
Seeing her sister and Owen getting ready to leave, Jocelyn happily waved them off.
Xavier stumbled to his feet, swaying slightly.
“No way. If I drink any more, Serena will break my legs.”
Serena again!
Jocelyn ground her teeth. “She wouldn’t do that. How could Serena be so aggressive?”
“She’s your fiancée. Shouldn’t she treat you well?”
Owen winced at her tone.
Since when did a fiancée have an obligation to coddle a man?
Xavier had resisted Serena at every turn for years; it would be a miracle if she
actually treated him with any warmth.
“Xavier, are you leaving or what?” Owen couldn’t stand it anymore.
He rushed his friend.
Xavier quickly mumbled that he was heading out.
As he stumbled out of the room, he looked around wildly for any sign of Serena.
The hostess approached and informed him that Ms. Wade had already left.
She had left half an hour ago!
Xavier’s heart sank. Even though his brain felt like alcohol-soaked mush, he knew Serena was probably furious.
“Owen, just take both of them home together. My head is killing me, I’m going back to my place.”
Without waiting for Owen to agree, Xavier bolted out the door.
Owen looked at the teary, drunk Seraphina and the seemingly dazed Jocelyn, experiencing a massive headache from being sold out by his best friend!
