Chapter 1023
Wasting no time, she bolted straight for her bedroom and threw open the door.
Seth was sitting on her bed, looking completely at ease and devastatingly relaxed, as if he owned the place.
The intimate setting did nothing to diminish his imposing aura; if anything, it amplified his overwhelming masculine presence.
The warm, golden light washed over him, highlighting the sharp, striking angles of his face.
His intense gaze lifted, a faint flush of arousal still coloring the corners of his eyes. He fixed a predatory, half-amused stare right at Noreen.
The collar of his dress shirt was unbuttoned, exposing the smooth line of his collarbone that rose and fell with his breathing—a dangerous mix of elegance and pure seduction.
Noreen unconsciously held her breath.
Looking at this breathtakingly handsome man, a ridiculous thought flashed through her mind-she was like a wealthy patron hiding her beautiful lover in a golden cage.
But she didn’t have time to admire the view.
She had to get him out before Claire came back downstairs.
Pushing down the fluttering in her stomach, Noreen rushed over and grabbed his arm. “Hurry, while she’s upstairs looking for Beau, you have to leave.”
Seth let her pull him toward the door, but his tone was dripping with bitterness. “Am I really that shameful to be seen with?”
Noreen knew she was being unfair to him.
But what else could she do?
She was the one who had originally begged Claire to keep her from falling for him again.
Claire had tried so hard to pull her out of the fire, only for Noreen to willingly jump right back in. Knowing Claire’s fiery temper, she would absolutely lose her mind.
She also knew that with Seth’s dominant personality, he would never tolerate being treated this way by anyone but her.
The only reason he was putting up with this was because he knew how much Claire meant to her.
So, before pushing him out the front door, she tried to soothe his bruised ego. “I’ll find a good time to explain everything to her later.”
To Seth, that promise was exactly the signal he needed.
Even though he wanted to demand a specific timeline-preferably yesterday.
He knew he couldn’t rush this.
Just hearing her commit to telling her best friend was enough for him, even if it was just an empty promise for now.
The icy tension finally left his expression, and before she could shove him out completely, he demanded his toll.
“Don’t I deserve a little compensation for this?”
Terrified Claire would catch them, Noreen refused and pushed at his
chest. “Next time! Jett m

But Seth stood there like a rooted oak tree, immovable.
Claire’s voice drifted down from upstairs, complaining that she couldn’t find Beau.
Panicking, Noreen quickly planted a fleeting kiss on his cheek.
Seth lowered his gaze, staring at her lazily for a few seconds. “Are you trying to humor a toddler?”
Noreen was speechless.
She knew his mood was sour from having their intimate moment ruined, so his pettiness was justified.
Yielding, she rose on her tiptoes and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
Then she gave him an exasperated look, silently asking if that was enough.
“Do you honestly think that’s enough?”
“…One minute. Deal?”
Any longer, and Claire would definitely catch them.
Seth didn’t waste another second talking. He gripped her waist and crashed his mouth down on hers.
His kiss was aggressive, laced with a fierce, demanding hunger.
He claimed her mouth with a punishing intensity, forcing her lips apart and plundering her depths, as if intent on stealing every lasbounce of oxygen from her lungs.
Powerless against his overwhelming assault, her breathing turned ragged. Her limbs grew weak, and in the dizzying haze of oxygen deprivation, he pulled her right back into that Intoxicating web of desire
They were so completely absorbed in each other that time ceased to exist.
It had definitely been more than a minute.
