Chapter 1195
It was the young man with the striking eyes.
“Careful,” he murmured.
“Thank you,” Noreen replied politely.
Stepping back, the man offered a curt nod and swiftly walked away.
Claire clicked her tongue. “He’s gorgeous, but man, he runs cold.”
Noreen hadn’t paid much attention to his looks. All she remembered were those eyes. They carried an inexplicable, sinister chill. Then again, maybe she was just imagining things. It was, after all, their first time crossing paths.
She quickly pushed the odd encounter out of her mind. As soon as she and Claire stepped through the main doors, Noreen immediately spotted the man leaning against a black Phantom, arms crossed.
Seth Harcourt was dressed in a sharp, double-breasted charcoal suit. The tailoring was flawless, highlighting his broad shoulders and exuding a quiet, dominant authority. He had locked his gaze on the entrance long before Noreen even walked out, spotting her the very second she appeared.
His eyes gleamed with a predatory warmth, and the corner of his lips quirked into a devastatingly perfect smirk. He possessed the refined elegance of old money, yet radiated an intoxicating, seductive energy that seemed to charge the very air between them with heavy tension.
The most brilliant detail was her dress-a dusty blue satin gown. And tucked neatly into his breast pocket was a silk square edged with the exact same shade of blue. It fluttered faintly in the night breeze, a deliberate and striking complement to her.
Claire’s sharp eyes caught the detail immediately. She yanked Noreen slightly closer and whispered in her ear, “Honey, I am never judging your lack of willpower ever again.”
With a sly fox like that throwing himself at her, who could possibly resist? The fact that Noreen had held out as long as she did was nothing short of miraculous.
Having delivered her tease, Claire didn’t wait for a response. She took a step back. “Alright, I’m heading back to the hotel alone. I’m not playing third wheel tonight.” “What about dinner-“
“Don’t worry about me, I’ll grab something myself.”
She highly doubted Noreen was going to make it out of her hotel room for the rest of the night. Dinner was definitely off the table. After all, this was a man who had been starved for five years.
Seth’s surprise appearance genuinely thrilled Noreen. She would never admit it out loud, but she had missed him terribly.
Sliding into the passenger seat, she asked what brought him to Northcrest so suddenly.
“I came for the summit,” Seth replied smoothly.
“Then why didn’t you go inside?” He was literally right outside the doors.
Seth’s gaze darkened with intent. “Because I have something much more important
to do than attend a summit.”
“Like what?” Noreen asked, genuinely curious.
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
“Soon enough” turned out to be exactly that. Seth drove her straight to the hotel. The second the door clicked shut behind them, he pinned her against the wood and claimed her lips.
His kiss was laeed with the
desperate hunger of a man who had flown thousands of miles just for this. It was fierce and possessive instantly stealing her breath as his lips trailed burning heat down her neck.
Noreen’s fingers instinctively curled into the lapels of his suit, crushing the perfectly
folded dusty blue pocket square into a crumpled mess.
fernet
The expensive charcoal fabric pulled taut beneath her grip. She could feel the violent shudder of his chest, impossible to tell if it was from his ragged breathing or the frantic uncontrollable hammering oth heart.
The kiss deepened relentlessly.
The hand he had planted on the door slid down, tangling into her hair to cup the
back of her head, completely eliminating any chance of retreat.
The soft rustle of her satin gown shifting against his demanding body echoed in the quiet entryway, the sound shockingly loud and
unbearably seductive. The airl
grew
thin as raw, electric heat surged between them.
Noreen felt herself melting. Her knees buckled, and she only stayed upright because of the firm, unyielding strength of his body pinning her against the door.
