Chapter 1207
Noreen slammed her hand down on his, twisting around to glare at him. “If you try anything else, I’m going to sleep in Claire’s room!”
Seth wasn’t having that.
He immediately pulled his hands back and promised her, “I won’t do anything tonight.”
That was a blatant lie, of course.
But for the moment, he kept his hands to himself.
After catching up on some emails, Noreen fell asleep.
At first, the man was perfectly behaved, simply holding her close.
But it wasn’t long before he crossed the line again.
“Seth Harcourt! You broke your promise again!”
Noreen’s frustrated voice rang through the room.
“I’m keeping it. I’m not doing anything. Just let me touch you for a minute. Just a minute, otherwise I can’t sleep.”
Furious, Noreen bit down hard on his neck.
She used enough force to leave a distinct mark.
Seth winced, but honestly, he loved it.
Her biting him was just her way of showing affection.
Look, she was claiming him!
No one else got to leave marks on him.
But then he remembered her threat to sleep in Claire’s room.
And there was also Katy Joyner, who always seemed to need Noreen to help her sleep!
Seth’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
It was time to take her somewhere far away, where it would be just the two of them.
So, the next afternoon, Claire received a text from Noreen, sent straight from the airport runway.
Noreen claimed she was being abducted for a vacation.
She had no idea where they were going or for how long.
All she knew was that she had woken up already on a private jet.
“Looks like someone is desperate for alone time,” Claire guessed immediately.
“I understand completely. Just tell him to pace himself.”
Noreen simply replied with a string of ellipses.

She dialed Felix’s number to push for the divorce.
She knew it was slightly heartless to press the issue while he was still hospitalized.
But it had to be done.
The line barely rang before it was picked up.
Felix sounded exhausted.
For the past two days, he had been trapped in a feverish haze, drifting in and out of consciousness.
When he finally woke up, he realized Madeline was the only one there.
He learned from her that Claire hadn’t visited once.
All his friends had stopped by, but not his own wife.
She truly didn’t care about him anymore.
The realization sat like a lead weight in his chest.
Madeline had been playing the devoted nurse, practically gluing herself to his bedside.
But Felix barely spoke to her.
He spent most of his time sleeping.
The rest of the time he was either dealing with work or staring blankly at the wall.
When Claire’s name flashed on his screen, a sudden jolt went through him.
He answered with a flicker of hope.
He desperately wanted to believe she was calling to check on him.
But her

him. “Are you free to go to city hall right now to finalize the divorce?
Felix’s heart plummeted.
He waited a few seconds before answering. “I haven’t been discharged yet.”
“I know. I can push you in a wheelchair,” Claire offered
practically. “It won’t take much time, and you won’t have to exert yourself. We just need to sign the papers.”
She added, “I can come pick you up right now.”
Silence hung heavy on the line before Felix finally forced out a single word. “Okay.”
