Chapter 1594

He was also deeply concerned about the security of those rundown shops.
Claire didn’t care either way, letting Dane take the lead until they stumbled upon a surprisingly modern salon.
The exterior was sleek, and the interior was heavily decorated with lush greenery. Walking inside felt like stepping into a private oasis, immediately putting them at
ease.
The place was busy, but Claire and Dane’s striking presence turned heads the moment they walked through the door.
The receptionist hurried over, a bright, eager smile on her face.
“Welcome! Are you two looking for a wash and style, or maybe some skincare? We offer full massages as well.”
They had quite a menu of services.
The floor was staffed by a crew of gorgeous young women and sharply dressed male stylists.
It was clear the establishment catered to a diverse clientele.
“Just a wash for both of us,” Dane decided.
He hadn’t planned on getting his hair washed, assuming the town wouldn’t have anything up to standard.
But seeing they offered private double suites, he decided to stay by her side. Besides, if Claire’s hair was dirty, Dane’s was hardly pristine.
He had been running on fumes for days, with zero time for personal grooming.
He couldn’t exactly sit there looking like a vagrant while his fiancée smelled like expensive shampoo.
“Right away! Would you like to be in the same suite?”
The receptionist was incredibly accommodating, clearly eager to please high-paying clients.
“Yes.” Dane wasn’t about to leave Claire alone in a town this volatile.
They were led into a pristine, dimly lit private room.
A moment later, two hair technicians walked in a man and a woman.
The woman immediately laid eyes on Dane and gravitated toward him instinctively.
Dane didn’t even look at her. “You wash hers.”
He gestured toward Claire.
The stylist quickly adjusted, offering a professional smile as she walked over to Claire’s station.
The male technician had assumed he’d be taking care of the beautiful girl, only to realize he was stuck with the guy.
Not that he was going to complain to a paying customer.
He approached Dane, offered a polite greeting, and began the wash.
“Is the pressure okay?”
He asked, keeping his tone perfectly professional.
Over at Claire’s station, the female stylist had already struck up a conversation.
“First time in town, sweetie?”
Claire gave a noncommittal “Mhm,” sounding perfectly bored.
Anyone with eyes could tell she was
wealthy and likely unimpressed by ee
the town so her attitude didn’t raise any flags.
“Is that your boyfriend? You guys must be from a big city. You’re both gorgeous.” When someone laid on the flattery that thick, Claire couldn’t completely ice her out. “Thanks. You’re very pretty yourself.”
The stylist waved it off with a laugh. “Oh, please. I’m three parts genetics and seven parts makeup.”
“You, on the other hand, are flawless without a drop on your face.”
“If I looked like you, I wouldn’t be washing hair in a salon. I’d be in Cabinda starring in movies.”
Her hands were incredibly soft as
she expertly massaged Claire’s. scalp and began working on her shoulders and neck.
“You look exhausted, sweetie. I can see the shadows under your eyes.”
“Just close your eyes and relax. Let me work out the tension.”
“I actually trained in massage therapy first. I’m really good.”
st aside
The stylist meticulously worked out the knots in Claire’s shoulders. The male from his initial question, remained entirely silent.
But Claire could tell he was listening to every word the woman said.
Claire closed her eyes as instructed. The girl wasn’t lying; her technique was phenomenal.
Within ten minutes, a wave of deep relaxation washed over her.
Then, Claire felt the stylist’s fingertips begin tracing small, deliberate circles at the base of her neck.
Wait, circles?
Claire’s senses sharpened immediately.
