Chapter 1595

[ 588 words ]

The stylist wasn’t just rubbing in circles. She was repeatedly tracing three distinct letters into Claire’s skin-S-O-S!

Claire understood immediately. She casually caught the girl’s hand. “Your hands are so soft. You’re so slender, but your grip is surprisingly strong.”

As she spoke, Claire subtly traced a checkmark into the girl’s palm, letting her know the message was received.

But she didn’t know this girl at all. Why was she begging for help?

It was freezing outside, so the stylist was wearing long sleeves and pants.

Claire couldn’t see if there were any defensive wounds on her arms or legs.

The skin that was exposed looked completely unblemished.

However, when Claire grabbed her hand, the girl leaned down, exposing the back of her neck. There were faint, reddish bruises fading into her hairline.

Had she been assaulted?

“Are you a local?”

As soon as Claire asked the question, she felt the male stylist’s eyes snap toward them.

The girl shook her head. “No.”

“Then how did you end up working all the way out here?” Claire asked, blending casual curiosity with a quiet interrogation.

“My boyfriend tricked me into coming here.”

The girl’s answer was a total bombshell.

The male stylist practically broke his neck looking over at her.

A second later, the girl giggled. “I mean, if there weren’t so many handsome guys in this town, I never would’ve stayed!”

“Who’s your boyfriend? Does he work here too? Is he hot?”

The girl made it sound like a joke, but Claire knew she was dropping actual intel.

She had been lured here under the guise of a romantic relationship.

Some girls were so deeply blinded by love they couldn’t see a trap if they were standing in it.

It wasn’t exactly a rare story.

A decade ago, the internet was littered with stories of girls traveling to meet online boyfriends, only to vanish without a trace.

If this girl was a victim of a digital romance scam, Claire wasn’t the least bit surprised.

“Yeah, he’s right next to you. Handsome, right?” The stylist winked playfully at Claire.

Claire turned her head to look at the male stylist. He had a boyish, innocent face- nothing like the stereotypical trafficker.

But there was an undeniable tension.

He had been hyper-fixated on the girl’s every move since they walked in.

Was it paranoia?

Why else would he be watching her like a hawk?

They definitely weren’t just a normal couple.

Had they been paired together specifically so he could monitor her?

Both the male stylist and Dane had caught the girl’s comment and turned to look.

Claire smiled lazily. “He’s cute, but he’s got nothing on my fiancé!”

Dane looked utterly smug, while the male stylist offered a bashful smile. “I could never compete with a gentleman like him.”

“You both look like royalty.”

“Don’t put yourself down.” Claire met his gaze directly. “Comparisons aside, you’re very handsome.”

“At the very least, you’re the most

handsome guy in the world to her Otherwise, she wouldn’t have left her whole life behind just to be with you.”

“You know, you’re absolutely right!” The stylist shot Claire a charming thumbs-up.

Then he leaned in, his voice

started

“When Quinn and I

and she told me I was gorgeous.”

“It was love at first sight.”

He painted the picture of a perfect, serendipitous romance. But if Quinn realized she had been lured into a

trap could she possibinto a

Be

love with him?

Claire highly doubted it.

“That’s incredibly romantic,” Claire praised effortlessly.

The guy didn’t add anything else, just offering another shy, endearing smile.

If Claire hadn’t felt the sheer terror radiating off Quinn, she might have actually bought the act.

“How old are you guys? Do you have plans to get married?” Claire asked, feigning innocent curiosity.
