Chapter 1596
[ 586 words ]
Quinn’s hands froze for a split second, and her eyes darted toward the male stylist.
As if sensing her panic, he offered her a deeply reassuring smile. “Once we’ve saved up enough money, we’re going to get married.”
It was supposed to be a deeply romantic sentiment, but instead of looking happy, Quinn physically flinched.
Claire felt the distinct tremor run through the girl’s hands.
Was the idea of marrying him really that terrifying?
“How much do you guys make a month? How much do you need to save?”
Claire pushed the boundary with her questions, probing for a reaction.
It was a bit intrusive, but as long as they didn’t shut her down, it didn’t matter. She was fishing for intel, so social niceties were out the window anyway. “We only bring in a few thousand a month, so we’re still renting right now.”
“I want to give Quinn a perfect life, so I won’t just rush into a cheap wedding.” “Once we have enough, we’re going to move to Lijiang or Dali, buy a nice house, and open our own salon.”
The guy certainly knew how to spin a convincing narrative.
He had likely used this exact dream to lure Quinn across the country in the first place.
But on their current salaries, a dream like that was years away from becoming reality.
Starting a business required capital, and he wanted to buy a house on top of it. It all sounded perfectly reasonable on the surface.
They were young. Why settle for an easy life when they could grind for a better future?
“You guys just need to hustle! Relying on standard wages makes saving tough. Since you’re both so good-looking, why don’t you start streaming online?”
“You could promote tourism for the town. The more people come to visit, the more clients you get, and your commissions go up!”
Claire was just tossing out ideas. Her real plan was to hand this mess over to Stephen once they left.
All the police needed to do was pull their records to figure out if Quinn was being held hostage.
Extracting her would be child’s play for a fully armed tactical unit.
“That’s actually brilliant!”
The guy’s eyes lit up.
Why hadn’t he thought of that? only would it drive traffic to the
physical shop, but it would als net

him a massive pool of women to
manipulate online.
He used to think making money was hard, which was why he started exploiting girls.
Now, he realized how easy it could be he just needed to leverage his own looks.
“Thank you for the advice, Miss.”
He looked at Claire, a flicker of genuine regret flashing in his eyes.
If she didn’t already have a fiancé, he felt confident he could have Wrapped her around his finger too.
He was incredibly arrogant about his looks.
And why wouldn’t he be? He was gorgeous.
Most women couldn’t resist him.
He had initially assumed this wealthy girl would be an easy mark, too.
Who could have guessed she was traveling with a fiancé who looked like a runway model?

This time, before the guy could respond, Quinn blurted out, “We will!”
Claire looked up at her. “Well then, you’d better take down my number so you don’t forget.”
“You two are the most gorgeous couple I’ve seen since we got into town. I’m rooting for you.”
Claire prompted Quinn to add her contact.
Quinn immediately shot a terrified glance at her boyfriend.
His expression darkened for a fraction of a second, but he didn’t stop her.
Quinn quickly saved Claire’s contact information, burning the phone number into her memory.
